It is the art of organisingthings and decorate spaces ina chaotic but intelligent way,so that the final look will bean elegant and casualscenario.

The House Doctor's 2014"Moments" catalog (in thispage) is an example of casual-chic décor: differentshapes, different styles andeven different chairscomplete the overall look.

Every kitchen has itshistory: the mug yourbestfriend gave you, thesugar bowl you stole fromyour grandma's, yourfindings at the charityshops... Diversity is whatreally makes the differenceand it's time to show it up. Being brave and creativewith the disposition of theobjects in a kitchen can givea new look to the entireroom.

Tips and tricks: you canreally show anything onyour shelves but it has tohave a common guideline, for example the color (as inthe picture) .

Page 6: Home meets Design - Issue01

Finding a guidelineor a theme you canfollow is reallyuseful, it can be alsoa pattern -liketriangles andgeometrical pattern(picture above)- orjust details, like thebeige leather piecesin the secondpicture.

Tips and tricks: bustthe look with a greentouch - a plant isdecorative and"refreshing" for theeye.

Layering twodifferent materials(first picture) createsa deep contrast thatlooks casual at thefirst sight, but hides adeep and smartsolution: without themarble piece in themiddle, the twowooden cuttingboards would beboring. Plus, the full-coloreddetails attract onthemselves most ofthe attention.

Tips and tricks: shinyobjects (secondpitcture) can alsocatch the attention, distracting theobserver from all thedifferent shapes andmaterial that coexiston the same shelf. The same effect canbe achieved ifplaying with thesame texture.
