For nearly 40 years Go Global NC has been the leading organization in North Carolina for driving and supporting global engagement across the state. Leveraging its national credibility and strong alumni base, Go Global NC is poised to expand its programs and assume the role of a backbone organization enhancing the collective impact of North Carolina’s great array of global success stories.

Go Global NC, located in Research Triangle Park of North Carolina, is seeking a Director of Donor Engagement to leverage both traditional fundraising and innovative strategies to fund the organization’s programs and operations. This position serves as a member of the Go Global NC leadership team and reports to the executive director. This position will work closely with the executive director, development committee, and board of advisors.

The director of donor engagement is responsible for creating and implementing a multifaceted strategy for insuring a sustainable flow of unrestricted funds for Go Global NC, restricted funds for each of the organization’s programs, and, as required, funding for joint projects with partners.

maintaining relationships with donors and partner organizations to further the mission of Go Global NC.

Play well with others and is capable of effectively designing and operating a complex, statewide development program involving multiple agencies and organizations.

Create and manage the big picture while attending to the smallest details including the management of fundraising strategy and prospect development, goal setting and tracking of results, fundraising data base management, donor communications, and other activities that support resource development and broadening of Go Global NC’s network of collaborators.

Serve as the primary liaison to our amazing Board of Advisors, organizing quarterly Board meetings, strategic communications, and coaching them as ambassadors of Go Global NC.

Think creatively and be capable of working in small- and large-group settings

This is an office of “one” supported by the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and thousands of alumni and friends across the State. This is also so much more than a “fundraising” position, it is also a “friendraising” position that will put you in contact with many of the most influential North Carolinians ranging from some of our most passionate and skilled teachers and law enforcement officers to our most successful political and financial leaders.

Purpose of the organization:

Go Global NC, has been connecting North Carolina and the world for nearly 40 years. It has been part of the University of North Carolina System since 1979, and designs and manages programs that build the skills of educators and students, and business, community, and policy leaders so they can help North Carolina succeed in a global economy and increasingly interdependent world.

Go Global NC’s portfolio of programs includes international experiential learning, domestic workshops and training, and coordination of the country’s largest network of K-12 Chinese-language classrooms in public schools. Go Global NC also serves as a resource to the UNC System’s global initiatives and campuses, and to North Carolina’s state and local government departments and agencies.

Go Global NC also organized and convenes the N.C. Coalition for Global Competitiveness, a collaborative effort of government, academic, and business leaders with a focus on international engagement.

Education and competency requirements:

Graduation from a four-year college or university and significant breadth of experience in developing and engaging partners for a university or nonprofit.

That breadth of experience may be visible as a linear sequence of development and partner engagement positions or as a unique mosaic of related positions that combine to make this job the perfect match.
