school a safer and more appealing transportation option Increase the skills level of children Reduce the number of crashes Increase awareness of healthful living choices Build comfort and confidence in active travel Improve safety and reduce traffic, fuel consumption and
air pollution near schools Increase helmet usage and compliance with the law

SRTS Program (circa 2005) Promotes bicycle and pedestrian education
Targets K-8 grades
Establishing partnerships with DPI and DHHS
“Basics of Bicycling” (circa 1995) Targeted grades 4-5
Program used in half the counties
Included grant funding to outfit trailer
