Every year, homeowners in Manitoba damageburied utility lines on their propertyresulting in costly repairs, injuries and evenfatalities. Follow this guide to make sureyou are digging safely.

STEP 1Submit your locate request online or by phone.Visit ClickBeforeYouDigMB.com or call 1.800.940.3447 to request that your buried facilities be located andmarked. Make sure you plan ahead and submit yourrequest at least three full working days before you startyour project.

STEP 2Wait for the locate to be completed. Within three fullworking days, the utility owners or their authorizedlocator will contact you or will locate and mark theburied lines on your property. They will provide youwith detailed information explaining the markings andhow to proceed safely. Locate documentation must bekept on site during your excavation.

STEP 3Identify any customer-owned utility lines.Customer-owned lines, such as water and sewerservice lines, sprinkler systems and any lines

STEP 4Dig with care. Locate markings identify theapproximate location of buried utilities.
