Why I choose this object

One of the first nebula I ever saw

One of the main reasons I am now interested in astronomy

First extra-solar object I ever researched (5th grade)

Information on the Horse head

The Horse head itself is known as Barnard 33

The nebula was first recorded in 1888 by Williamina Fleming on photographic plate B2312 taken at the Harvard College Observatory

Horse Head Info

Part of the Orion Nebula

Surrounded by emission nebulae IC434 and NGC 2024 as well as reflection nebula NGC 2023

Taking the Image

Narrow band imaging

H alpha, SII, OIII

Less light pollution from stars

More of nebula visible

Hubble Pallet Vs RGB

Hubble pallet Haplha = green SII = red

ESO Halpha = red SII = green

More cloud detail with hubble

Debate whether hubble or ESO pallet is correct
