8“I must be getting old because I really don’t understand what I have just watched,” said my good friend as we left the cinema. I laughed. Although my friend is older than me I was in the same boat as him, “I guess I must be old too,” I replied. We had just spent, or should I say lost, three hours of my life experiencing the latest superhero blockbuster. It is a movie, and the name is not so important, swimming in superlatives – explosions, more explosions, the most explosions. And to make matters even worse it was in 3D. I am old school. Give me a black and white 2D clas-sic every time. Of course on the drive home we started to reminisce. “I can’t remem-ber the last time Hollywood delivered a good movie,” my friend commented. “Casa-blanca, Gone with the Wind, Breakfast at Tiffany’s…now they were real movies,” he continued. Strangely enough even though all of these mov-ies were made before I was born I agreed with him. The days that movies actually have plots are behind us. The plot for the movie we had just seen could have been writ-ten on the back of a match-box and you would have room to write the names of all the actors. It’s probably a gen-erational question. Where-as people used to spend time reading actual newspapers, magazines and books now they only have enough time to read the comment under an Instagram photo. I am old enough to remember the time when it was predict-ed that modern technology would mean that we would have more time to enjoy life. Robots will do our house-hold chores, cars will drive automatically, the internet

will mean instant communi-cation with the whole world and travel will be quicker and easier than even before, (these have all come true) all of this will mean more time to go fishing, play football or walk the dog. In reality the situation is completely the opposite. You will bank on-line or over the phone. Yes, but now we have our banks phoning us and nobody ac-tually working in branches, meaning we wait longer and get harassed more. “Hel-lo it’s the bank but before I can talk to you I just need to ask you some security ques-tions,” said the monotonous voice down the phone to me a few weeks ago. “Securi-ty questions!!! You phoned me!!” I answered abruptly. Adding “I didn’t ask you to phone me…you can’t ring me

if you don’t think it’s me.” Needless to say my answer fell on deaf ears, quite clear-ly English sarcasm was lost of this bank clerk. And while I am on the subject of deal-ing with institutions over the phone I feel the need to men-tion T-Com. So this is a phone company, a communications company. So how ironic that every time I call I am greet-ed by the same message, “All of our agents are busy at the moment we are doing all we can to answer your call.” Do-ing all you can?!? Here is one thing you haven’t tried, pick-ing up the phone? “All of our agents are busy as soon as an agent is free we will answer your call,” bleeps the digital voice down the phone. When you say all of your agents do you really mean both of your agents! Why is it that when I

want to fix a problem with my MAX-TV I have to call a doz-en times and wait for what seems like a millennium but when I owe the bank 6 Lipa they find the time to call me. I guess we will be banking over Instagram soon. The world is slowly going mad. Facebook have opened an online dat-ing agency, a President is only communicating over Twitter and I am measuring how far I walk everyday with an app. I saw a headline the other day that summed it up perfectly “Your smartphone is making you stupid, antisocial and un-healthy. So why can’t you put it down⁉️” Its true. If we were being honest with ourselves then we would agree that the smartphone in our pocket is making us dumb and bor-ing, but it is more addictive than heroin. So when I leave a cinema with a friend and he starts to think back to the good old days my mind starts to wander. Of course we are thinking of our childhoods with rose-tinted glasses but I have to say I’m glad I am not a child today. The pres-sures today of being online must be immense. Getting just the right selfie, the best profile photo or writing the “wittiest” comment is cru-cial for this generation. And I, for one, feel sorry for them. “Your story is the greatest legacy that you will leave to your friends. It’s the longest-lasting legacy you will leave to your heirs,” once wrote Steve Saint, (but for the younger generation he wasn’t talking about leaving a story of Instagram).

Russian oligarch turns heads with the 11th largest yacht in the world as he visits Dubrovnik region

8The eleventh largest yacht in the world dropped anchor this week in the Bay of Zupa, domi-nating the whole bay for miles. At an incredible 140 metres in length, or around 10 metres longer than a football pitch or around half the length of the Stradun, the super yacht carries the name Ocean Victory and was built in 2014. In fact, the mega yacht was the tenth longest yacht in the world before the launch of Red-wood “Opus” this year, which by only 2 metres knocked Ocean Victory out of the top ten. The Bay of Zupa and Cavat are cer-tainly proving a magnet for mega yachts this sum-

mer, with one of the ow-ners of the Mexican beer giant Corona docking in the same spot just days ago. Accommodating 28 passengers in the height of luxury in 14 cabins and holding a sizeable crew of 56 Ocean Victory is ow-ned by one of the richest men in the world, the Russian billionaire Vik-tor Rashnikov. Repor-ted to be worth $10 billi-on Rashnikov (70) is the majority owner of Mag-nitogorsk Iron & Steel Works, and is the 162nd richest person on the pla-net. And he made a dent in his fortune with the pur-chase of Ocean Victory as it set him back a tidy $300 million.

And the son of the world famous rocker, Jake Bon Jovi, has commented on a photo on Facebook that “I’m a Croatia native now!” Jon Bon Jovi ar-rived in Cavtat on the 25th of June and jumped on board the

luxury yacht Rarity, which is setting back the rocker a whop-ping $260,000 a week. The fami-ly then spent a day in Dubrovnik, before sailing off along the co-astline and visiting the island of Korcula and Hvar. Thousands of fans have commented on Jake’s Croatian photos, with one com-menting “I married a Croatian after visiting the first time!!” and another “When you almost have as many followers as the country of Croatia.”

Monaco, on the Festival de Télé-vision de Monte-Carlo, an inter-national festival and competiti-on focusing on productions for television. Just couple of weeks ago they were in Dubrovnik, on the New Europe Market 2019 (NEM), where they’ve presen-ted their new series LA’s Fi-nest. This new series focuses on two female detectives wor-king on the streets of Los An-geles. Journalist of Dnevnik.hr caught up with Gabrielle Union in Monaco and asked her about

her impressions of Dubrovnik. - Beautiful! Absolutely stunning country, amazing food, beautiful people! Also, I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan, so to walk around King’s Landing made my ‘fan-girl’ go nuts. But it was beautiful! – Union commented. Her collea-gue and friend Jessica Alba su-rely agrees because she shared numerous stories on her official Instagram profile during their stay. Union did the same and one of her shared photos, po-sing with Alba with Dubrovnik in the background, collected al-most 100 thousand likes.

8After just over two months of inaction the Dubrovnik Cable Car resumed carrying passen-gers again last week. On the 25th of April this year the cable car was forced to close by the City of Dub-rovnik for non-payment of their concession fees. This situation has finally been resolved after two months and one of the most po-pular tourist attractions in the city has restarted working to the obvious de-light of tourists in the city. “Following the signing of the concession agreement

between the City of Dub-rovnik as a concessionaire and Excelsa Real Estate as the concessioner, officials of the Customs Administ-ration today lifted the ban on the cable cars opera-tion,” stated Excelsa Real Estate. The company con-cluded with an apology sta-ting that “We are grateful to our supporters and busi-ness partners for the pati-ence and understanding they have shown over the past two months when we have not been able to pro-vide them with a cable car service.”

April dieses Jah-res musste die Seilbahn von der Stadt Dubrovnik wegen Nichtzahlung der Konzessionsgebühren ge-schlossen werden. Nach zwei Monaten ist diese Si-tuation endlich gelöst und eine der beliebtesten Tou-ristenattraktionen der Stadt hat wieder begon-nen, zur offensichtlichen Freude der Touristen in der Stadt zu arbeiten.

“Nach der Unterzeich-nung des Konzessionsver-trags zwischen der Stadt Dubrovnik als Konzes-sionär und Excelsa Real Estate als Konzessionär hoben Beamte der Zoll-verwaltung heute das Be-triebsverbot für Seilbah-nen auf”, erklärte Excelsa Real Estate Entschuldi-gung: „Wir danken un-seren Unterstützern und Geschäftspartnern für die Geduld und das Verständ-nis, das sie in den letzten zwei Monaten gezeigt ha-ben, als wir ihnen keinen Seilbahnservice anbieten konnten.“

bouring rulers because they were already in Konavle. These feudal lords now enforced pay-ments from their lands in Konavle from Sokol. With the arrival of people from Dubrovnik this system changed radically. They oversaw Konavle and managed their revenues from the Rector’s Court in Saint Martin (Pridvorje) and Sokol took on a role similar to that of Justini-an’s castrum from the 6th century: the defence of territory acquired from external enemies.Throughout the 15th century, the Republic of Dubrovnik invested considerable financial resources to make Sokol a fortress powerful enough to defend Konavle and the south-east-ern borders of the republic. The small trad-ing republic had many enemies. In addition

to rulers in the hinterland and the powerful Venetian Republic, which was always lying in wait to conquer the city, a major new power on the European mainland was unstoppably ap-proaching the borders of Dubrovnik: the Otto-mans. Sokol also played an important military role in the 16th and the 17th centuries. How-ever, after the Candian war in 1669, the for-tress lost its significance and the Dubrovnik army abandoned it in 1672. The Association of the Friend of Dubrovnik Antiquities acquired Sokol in 1966. The restoration, which has tak-en more than half a century, has enabled the fortress to open to the public. After 350 years, Sokol is again guarded by a permanent garri-son the watches over it.

TOP FIVE DUBROVNIK “MUST DO”8WALK THE CITY WALLS – if you don’t walk the walls then you haven’t seen Dubrovnik. The symbol of the city and should be top of every “must do” list of Dubrovnik. Walk ei-ther in the early morning or late af-ternoon, it’s just too hot in the midday sun. At 150 Kunas for an adult ticket its value for money and don’t forget your camera and an empty memory card…you’ll see why!

8 EAT LIKE A LOCAL – forget fast food, in Dubrovnik its all about slow food. Find a place where the locals frequent and avoid the tour-ist traps. Seafood should be fairly high on your menu list; you are after all sit-ting next to the Adriatic Sea. Olive oil, cheese from oil, oysters, octopus, ri-sotto…all washed down with a bottle (or two) of fine wine from Pelješac or Korčula…you can’t go wrong.

8VISIT A MUSEUM – there are plenty of them to choose from. In fact it could be argued that the Old City itself is a living museum. The Rector’s Palace, the Sponsor Pal-ace, Rupe Museum, the Maritime Mu-seum, Marin Držić House…that’s prob-ably enough to be getting on with. Buy a Dubrovnik City Card and you can visit them all for free…well for the cost of a card that is…there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

8 GET YOURSELF TO LOKRUM – yes that’s an order! If you don’t know what Lokrum is…well it’s that green is-land near the Old City…you know the one you keep pointing at. It’s a real oa-sis of flora and fauna and a very roman-tic place to spend the afternoon (maybe leave the kids at home). The beaches, well they aren’t really beaches, tend to be rocky, but find your “own” rock and enjoy a natural spa treatment.

8HAVE A COFFEE ON THE STRADUN – this one’s for the lazier amongst you. In fact, the coffee culture of Du-brovnik is more like a religion. None of that “express” coffee you’ll find in ma-jor cities, no, although you will find es-pressos! Find a good spot in the shade and people watch, don’t gulp down your drink like a tequila, sip and watch the world pass you by.

8This isn’t your first visit to Croatia, and indeed to Dubrovnik, what keeps bring-ing you back to our city?I should have been born Cro-atian. I just love the weath-er, the people and the beach-es, you know I have been to many countries in the world and this is certainly for me one of the most beautiful. Dubrovnik is just so unique. I would love to eventually

move to Dubrovnik and live here. I was born in Poland but my business really keeps me in the UK at the moment.

In fact, this time you aren’t in Dubrovnik for a family holi-day, but you are on a working break. Can we expect to Du-brovnik on the screens in the UK in the near future?Yes, I am recording a new program, but at this time it’s a little secret so I can’t really say which UK channel it will

be broadcast on. Sometimes you just have to keep some secrets. The working title is “European Bake-acation” like a play on words. I am taking traditional Croatian and re-gional dishes and putting my own twist on them. I want to keep it a little simple so I am trying to create dishes that can be prepared on the bal-cony or with as little equip-ment as possible. I am trying to source all the ingredients locally. I have been collect-

ing these ideas by speaking to locals and reading and re-searching. So I have dishes such as rostule, burek and baklava.

Why baking? What brought you into the world of baking? I have always liked food. Since I was little I would stand by my grandmother and moth-er and watch them cook and bake. I was always sticking my nose into pans and pick-ing up the smells and that’s probably where it all started. When I came to live in Eng-land I never forgot these skills but I was just so busy with other jobs that I didn’t have time to bake. I used to work in an office in the UK and when the recession struck I was the first to get made re-dundant. Then I fell preg-nant. One day I just opened the cupboards in my kitchen and found flour, sugar, but-ter and eggs and I thought “I can bake.” So I decide to be a stay at home mum and look after my child. I started mak-ing cakes and then uploading them onto my social media accounts. Pretty quickly there were more and more people following me and copying the recipes. I then saw that these people were actually using my ideas to start their own businesses so I then saw that I had to change tactics, that’s when I started carving cakes and making artistic cake sculptures. Loving col-ours and loving art the sculp-tures seemed to be the right path, and I have been lucky to be so successful, although

there has been lots of hard work along the way.

You have been extremely suc-cessful with these cake sculp-tures, with countless ap-pearances on TV shows and thousands following you on so-cial media. But it’s a long jump from making cakes in your kitchen to presenting them to Hollywood stars. How did this

happen?All the steps over a six-year period seemed to connect in a big way. Eventually I sur-prised myself. I went from making a teddy bear, which was my first ever attempt to presenting a cake to Jason Momoa the star of Aquaman and Game of Thrones. It was a long journey and lots of hard work. The first celebrity cake

I made was for the British co-median and presenter Leigh Francis. He actually spotted me on Instagram and sent me a direct message asking if I could make some special cakes for one show he was do-ing on ITV. I had a short dead-line, but when he asked I just couldn’t say no. When you get opportunities like that you just run and run and make sure it happens. Of course I was panicking but with only five days before the show was due to be recorded they final-ly confirmed they wanted the cake. It was a lot of work and a lot of sleepless night, but we got there and my cakes were a huge hit. I think I had three or four hours sleep a night for five nights.

What is your most famous ce-lebrity cake?That’s not a difficult ques-tion to answer, especially being in Dubrovnik. Jason Momoa obviously starred in Game of Thrones which was filmed here so everyone here probably knows who he is. He inspired me a lot. I always wanted to meet him. Not only because of his acting but also because of his strong envi-ronmental views. I am myself environmentally crazy and I try to do as much as I can for charities and good causes. Be-cause I am in a position that a lot of people follow me on social media and through my TV work I am fortunate that I can use this to influence peo-ple to think about our planet. So working with him was a dream. A little secret, he has

a birthday coming up and he will be in London for it so I hope to make a birthday cake especially for him.

How did you manage to get in direct contact with a Holly-wood star? You are clearly a fan on Marvel films but I can’t imagine you have the actor’s mobile numbers.Again it was the power of so-cial media. He saw me on In-stagram and I contacted him with a special cake carving of him. Presenting it to him in person was an absolute dream come true.

You put so much time and ef-fort into making these cake sculptures. Are you then a lit-tle frustrated or disappointed when people actually cut them apart and eat them?No, not at all, quite the oppo-site I feel really happy. I love it when they cut the cake open. I once made a cake for the BBC TV personality Lau-rence Llewelyn-Bowen and when he saw it he said “Oh my goodness this is art.” Al-though when he cut it apart I felt just as happy as when I was making it. My cakes live as long as they should live and then people enjoy them, that’s their purpose.

Do you have a sweet tooth yourself?Oh yes! I have to have cake every day, and if I can’t find cake then I’ll take some choc-olate. If I can’t find a cake to buy, then I’ll just make some-thing myself.

There is a rather interesting video of you baking a cake with Deadpool. We already know that you are a Marvel fan but was that really Ryan Reynolds?It was Ryan but not Ryan Reynolds. Yes, that was a vid-eo that we made for charity in the UK. We actually made the whole video in Kate Moss’s house, she was very gener-ous to let us use her home for the video. We donated all the money we made to a char-ity that is very close to our hearts.

8The Old City of Dubrovnik is a self-contained city, a city surrounded by ancient stone walls. The Stradun, the main street, runs through the centre of the city like an arrow. It is one of the busiest streets and other side streets run parallel with it. It runs from East to West and is around 300 metres in length. There entrances into the Old City, one at the East – Ploce Gate, one at the West – Pile Gate and to the North – Buza Gate. The busiest is Pile Gate where all the buses arrive, if you are coming by car then the Buza Gate is the easiest...but there are lots of steps. The Stradun is the lowest point in the whole city, eve-rything leads up from this street.

8Die Altstadt von Dubrovnik ist eine in sich geschloss-ene Stadt, die von alten Steinmau-ern umgeben ist. Der Stradun, die Hauptstraße, verläuft wie ein Pfeil durch das Stadtzentrum. Er ist eine der belebtesten Straßen, mit einigen parallel dazu verlaufenden Seitenstraßen. Er verläuft von Os-ten nach Westen und ist etwa 300 Meter lang. Es gibt drei Eingänge in die Altstadt, einen im Osten – das Ploče-Tor, einen im Westen – das Pile-Tor und das Buza-Tor im Nor-den. Am meisten los ist beim Pile-Tor, bei dem alle Busse ankommen. Wenn Sie mit dem Auto anreisen, ist das Buza-Tor die einfachste Wahl….jedoch gibt es hier sehr viele Stufen. Der Stradun ist der tiefstgelegenste Punkt in der gesamten Stadt, von dieser Straße aus geht es stets nach oben.

1The Dubrovnik Synagogue is the oldest Sefardic synagogue still in use today in the world and the second oldest synagogue in Europe. It is said to have been established in 1352, but gained legal status in the city in 1408.

The Republic of Ragusa was a maritime republic centred on the city of Dubrovnik that existed from 1358 to 1808. It reached its commercial peak in the 15th and the 16th centuries, before being conquered by Napoleon’s French Empire and formally annexed by the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy in 1808. It had a population of about 30,000 people, out of whom 5,000 lived within the city walls. Its motto was “Non bene pro toto libertas venditur auro”, which translated from Latin means “Liberty is not well sold for all the gold”

BONUS QUESTIONWhat museums are there in the Old City? You could argue that the whole of the Old City is a museum, but a living museum. My advice would be to buy a Dubrovnik City Card, with this card you will save not only money but also time. The card, which offers

one – three – or weekly options, will allow entrance into the vast majority of museums in the city as well as the Old City walls. For an additional cost, as they aren’t included in the card, I would also suggest the Franciscan and Dominican museums, the cathedral treasury, the War Photo Limited and the Synagogue.

Is there free Wi-Fi in the city?Everywhere! All of the bars and restaurants have free Wi-Fi. All you need to do is to ask the waiter for password. Or, of course, you could just be social and talk to your friends.

What cuisines is Dubrovnik well known for?You are right by the clean Adriatic Sea so sea food and fish should be high up the list. In general the pleasure to be wined and dined in a healthy way, so try some black cuttlefish risotto, oysters and grilled fish. If you want some meat in your diet then a beef stew – called “pasticada” is a must. And for dessert rozata or bitter orange ice cream or jam.

From the 10th of July to the 25th of Au-gust the Dubrovnik Summer Festival will bring drama, ballet, concerts, exhibitions and much more to a plethora of venues in and around the city. For Dubrovnik, especial-ly the historic Old City, act as perfect locations and back-drops for the cultural cornu-copia. 47 days of magic, with a special birthday twist, this summer in Dubrovnik. The programme brings together the best Croatian artists and top performances by interna-tional artists, it disintegrates the mythology of the Europe-an cultural heritage, the myths of Dubrovnik and the myths of the Festival, at the same time questioning the past and the future of site-specific perfor-mance practices and nurturing the relationship between tra-dition and modernity. Its own production remains the back-bone of its theatre programme, thus confirming the national, cultural and historical identity built by the Dubrovnik Sum-mer Festival during its long existence, with the model of

the Festival Drama Ensemble as its specific feature - Artistic Director Dora Ruždjak Podols-ki pointed out in her introduc-tion.

Highlights of the 70th anniversary programme

include -Hamlet, directed by Paolo Ma-gelli by the Festival Drama En-semble on the mythical Lovr-jenac Fort from 27 to 31 July.The premiere of Geranium, directed by Marina Pejnović, based on Ivo Vojnović’s short story of the same name and Antun Šoljan›s short story Island from the collection Prayer in the Promenade, will

Taverna Nostromo 8Hard work and creativ-ity will always pay off

in the end. This was my sec-ond visit to Taverna Nostro-mo, located in front of Ho-tel Petka in Gruz, and I had fond memories of my first visit. And as the chef was the same, which to be hon-est isn’t that usual in Du-brovnik, I knew that the consistency would be there. And it was. However, he had stepped up his cooking and his creations to a new lev-el. After finding a space in the shade on the spacious terrace in front of the ho-tel, there is also room in-

side in the air-conditioning, I browsed the menu. Im-pressive and imaginative. I opened with the risot-to with beefsteak and

mushrooms, one of the tast-iest risottos I have tried in a long time and a big por-tion. I was really pushing the boat out and trying as much as possible from the menu. But keeping in the

meat theme it was onto the monster steak. If you aren’t

hungry don’t order this! The Club Steak is abso-lutely massive, it filled the plate. Served with vegetables and a rather nice BBQ sauce. Now I have to tell you that the vast majority of the

produce used, either the meat, fish, vegetables or

herbs, are locally sourced, which is a nice touch. This huge steak landed in front of me and the table groaned. And at only 145.00 Kuna it is also great value. Some res-taurants almost have that price for a pizza. If you are a fish lover then try the sea bream. It is prepared in a rather unusual way, even

though the description on the menu just says “Sea bream in paper bag” don’t be fooled that you’ll get fish and chips, it’s well worth a try, a thumbs up. Even though the monster Club Steak pretty much filled me to the brink I still had left room for dessert, well you need to end with something sweet don’t you. A cooked pear, yes it maybe doesn’t sound so attractive but a fresher and lighter sum-mer dessert you’ll strug-gle to find in Dubrovnik. Served with a creative and yummy side sauce, I don’t

want to give away the ingre-dients, or in fact the recipe, you’ll have to ask the chef yourselves. All in all a very enjoyable meal at Taverna Nostromo. Book your table today.

8For many years the City of Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik Tourist Board have been organ-izing music and enter-tainment programs on the Elafiti islands, and in Zaton and Orašac in order to present tour-ists the Mediterrane-an melody, folklore and folk traditions that have been cherished for ages. Within special pro-grams with traditional folk festivities and holi-days guests will be able to enjoy some thirty per-formances this summer such as: Dalmatian vocal groups concerts, folk-lore performances, classical music concerts and per-formances by Croatian music entertainers which will be held on Koločep, Lopud, Šipan, in Zaton and Orašac.

8One of the oldest and most prestigious European festivals, a member of the European Festivals As-sociation since 1956, will present its numerous domestic and international audiences with over 80 theatre, music, ballet, film, folklore and other performances during 47 days of its big, seventieth anniversary edition in the fol-lowing season. The conceptual guideline of the seventi-eth Dubrovnik Summer Festival is based on the slogan City Myths.

KORČULAWhat to see... / Sehenswürdig-keitenOld city of Korcula - The old city is surrounded by walls, and the streets are arranged in a herring-bone pattern allowing free circulation of air but protecting against strong winds. Korcula is tightly built on a promontory that guards the narrow sound between the island and the mainland. Building outside the walls was forbidden until the 18th century, and the wooden drawbridge was only replaced in 1863.

Altstadt von Korčula – Die Altstadt ist umgeben von Mauern und ihre Straßen sind im Fischgrätmuster angeordnet, wodurch ein freier Luftstrom er-möglicht und gleichzeitig Schutz vor starken Winden geboten wird. Korčula ist eng auf einem Landstrich gebaut, der in den Korčula-Kanal hinausragt. Bis zum 18. Jahrhundert war es verboten, außerhalb der Mauern zu bauen. Die ursprüngliche, hölzerne Zugbrücke wurde erst 1863 ersetzt.

Arboretum in Trsteno - Ten kilometres from Slano, in the direction of Dubrovnik, lies Trsteno where the Arboretum was founded out of the estate of the family of Ivan Gučetić in 1948. Their summer house and gardens were established in the 16th century as a harmonious melding of architecture and nature. Today, the Arboretum is a preserved venue of botanical architectural culture.

Arboretum in Trsteno – Zehn Kilometer von Slano entfernt, in Richtung Du-brovnik, liegt Trsteno wo das Arboretum 1948 auf dem Gut der Familie von Ivan Gučetić begründet wurde. Das Sommerhaus und die Gärten entstanden im 16. Jahrhundert als eine harmonische Kombination von Architektur und Natur. Heute ist das Arbore-tum ein geschützter Ort botanisch-architektonisch-er Kultur.

All of Korcula’s narrow streets are stepped with the notable exception of the street running alongside the south-eastern wall. The street is called the Street of Thoughts as one did not have to worry about the steps.
