Jerusalem House was established 25 years ago by a coalition of community leaders who envisioned a residential facility for homeless people with AIDS that would foster independence and dignity. Named because “Jerusalem” means “dwelling of peace,” we now provide 59% of the permanent supportive housing designated for our target population. We fulfill our mission through four programs: Program for Adults (opened 1989) - provides homes and supportive services to 25 single adults living with AIDS through 23 efficiency units The Family Program (opened 1997) - devoted to homeless mothers with HIV/AIDS and their children, provides apartment style living to 12 families Scattered Site I Program (opened 2003) - provides housing for 50 homeless men and women with HIV/AIDS and their families Scattered Site II Program (opened 2009) - provides housing for 130 homeless and low-income families and individuals affected by HIV/AIDS

Of the nearly 240 residents living in a Jerusalem House program, approximately 70 are children. Having lived in a structured and stable home environment with access to good schools, these children are likely to break the inter-generational cycles of HIV/AIDS, poverty and homelessness.

MISSION STATEMENT Jerusalem House provides a continuum of housing and supportive services for Atlanta’s

homeless or low-income individuals, families, and children affected by HIV/AIDS and leads the community in meeting their needs.

Since the inception of the Family Program, all resident children have been promoted to the next

grade-level, and have a B-average or better.

$.88 of every dollar raised goes

directly to program expenses.

The Stars Party & Silent Auction is a one-night, invitation-only fundraising event held exclusively for Jerusalem House donors, corporate sponsor representatives and guests of the Board of Directors. Funds are raised through an auction as well as through ticket sales for our annual raffle held in October. This year’s event, to be held on Thursday, April 3rd in the Georgian Ballroom of the Biltmore, will help us commemorate our 25th year of providing housing and supportive services to Atlanta’s homeless, HIV/AIDS community! We will serve specialty drinks, beer, wine and other beverages and feature food stations serving hot hors d’oeuvres provided by local restaurants. Attendance this year is projected at 300 people.
