With the loss yesterday and the D-Backs victory over the Giants, Los Angeles fell to second place in the National League West and trail Arizona by one game for the division lead. After today’s game, the Boys in Blue will have a scheduled off day tomorrow and then will head out to Oakland for a two-game series to begin a six- game road trip. The Dodgers dropped their fifth consecutive regular season game to the Astros dating back to the 2015 campaign, when Houston swept Los Angeles in a three-game series at Minute Maid Park. The last time the Boys in Blue were swept by the Astros at Dodger Stadium was on May 9-11, 2008, when Houston took the three-game set at the Ravine. Despite the losing streak, the Boys in Blue have held the upper hand against the ‘Stros at Dodger Stadium, posting a 105-78 all-time record at the Ravine, including winning 10 of their last 15 matchups in Los Angeles. According to Stats LLC., the Dodgers 14-0 shutout loss last night marked their largest shutout defeat at home since July 22, 1923, when the then-named Brooklyn Robins fell to the Boston Braves 14-0 at Ebbets Field. The Dodgers are 6-6 in Interleague play this season, including posting a 5-4 record at Dodger Stadium. Los Angeles has posted a 35-21 (.625) record since the beginning of June, which is the best winning percentage in the NL over that time. THE SKY WALKER: Dodger rookie right-hander Walker Buehler will take the mound this afternoon for his 13 th start of the season as he looks to record his fifth win of the year. In his last start on Tuesday against the Brewers, Buehler allowed just one run on five hits and struck out seven over 7.0 innings as he took a loss in his second consecutive outing. The 7.0 innings was the longest outing he had tossed since May 27 against the Padres. On the season, the 24-year-old has gone 4-4 with a 3.65 ERA (28 ER/69.0 IP) and has limited the opposition to a .228 average in 13 games (12 starts). The Kentucky native has also struck out 71 batters against just 14 walks, while posting a 1.06 WHIP. Among NL starters who have logged at least 50.0 innings and not counting his relief appearance, he owns the second best opponents’ OBP (.257) and the fourth best opponents’ OPS (.578) in the league, while ranking fourth in WHIP (0.99) and 10 th in opponents’ batting average (.214). In his lone career Interleague start on July 13 against the Angels, Buehler allowed two runs on six hits and punched out five against one walk over 5.0 innings as he did not factor in the decision. In eight games (seven starts) at Dodger Stadium this season, Buehler is 2-3 with a 2.70 ERA (13 ER/43.1 IP) and has struck out 43 against just five walks. He has also limited hitters to a .208 average, while posting a 0.88 WHIP. HOMER HAPPY: Despite not recording a home run in last night’s contest, the Dodgers still lead the National League with 155 longballs, which is 13 more than the Colorado Rockies in the NL and the second most in the Majors behind just the New York Yankees (175). Los Angeles also leads the National League in at bats/home run (24.52), home runs per game (1.38) and extra-base hits (375). Dodger outfielder Joc Pederson belted a leadoff home run for the second consecutive game on Friday, as he collected his eighth career leadoff homer and the fifth of the season (T-2 nd , MLB). Pederson became just the second Dodger hitter all- time to hit a leadoff home run in back-to-back games, joining Carl Furillo, who accomplished the feat on July 12 and 13, 1951 (source: Stats LLC). The Dodgers have hit nine leadoff longballs this year, which is the most ever in a single season in Dodger history and currently ranks second most in the Majors in 2018, trailing just the Cardinals (10). AVOIDING THE BROOMS: Following last night’s 14-0 shutout loss

to the Houston Astros, the Dodgers will close out their seven-game

homestand (2-4) with the series finale of a three-game Interleague

matchup as they look to avoid being swept for the third time this season

(last: May 10-13 vs. CIN). With the loss yesterday and the D-Backs

victory over the Giants, Los Angeles fell to second place in the National

League West and trail Arizona by one game for the division lead. After

today’s game, the Boys in Blue will have a scheduled off day tomorrow

and then will head out to Oakland for a two-game series to begin a six-

game road trip.

The Dodgers dropped their fifth consecutive regular season

game to the Astros dating back to the 2015 campaign, when

Houston swept Los Angeles in a three-game series at Minute

Maid Park. The last time the Boys in Blue were swept by the

Astros at Dodger Stadium was on May 9-11, 2008, when

Houston took the three-game set at the Ravine.

Despite the losing streak, the Boys in Blue have held the upper

hand against the ‘Stros at Dodger Stadium, posting a 105-78

all-time record at the Ravine, including winning 10 of their

last 15 matchups in Los Angeles.

According to Stats LLC., the Dodgers 14-0 shutout loss last

night marked their largest shutout defeat at home since July

22, 1923, when the then-named Brooklyn Robins fell to the

Boston Braves 14-0 at Ebbets Field.

The Dodgers are 6-6 in Interleague play this season, including

posting a 5-4 record at Dodger Stadium.

Los Angeles has posted a 35-21 (.625) record since the

beginning of June, which is the best winning percentage in the

NL over that time.

THE SKY WALKER: Dodger rookie right-hander Walker Buehler

will take the mound this afternoon for his 13th start of the season as he

looks to record his fifth win of the year. In his last start on Tuesday

against the Brewers, Buehler allowed just one run on five hits and struck

out seven over 7.0 innings as he took a loss in his second consecutive

outing. The 7.0 innings was the longest outing he had tossed since May

27 against the Padres. On the season, the 24-year-old has gone 4-4 with

a 3.65 ERA (28 ER/69.0 IP) and has limited the opposition to a .228

average in 13 games (12 starts). The Kentucky native has also struck

out 71 batters against just 14 walks, while posting a 1.06 WHIP. Among

NL starters who have logged at least 50.0 innings and not counting his

relief appearance, he owns the second best opponents’ OBP (.257) and

the fourth best opponents’ OPS (.578) in the league, while ranking

fourth in WHIP (0.99) and 10th in opponents’ batting average (.214).

In his lone career Interleague start on July 13 against the

Angels, Buehler allowed two runs on six hits and punched out

five against one walk over 5.0 innings as he did not factor in

the decision.

In eight games (seven starts) at Dodger Stadium this season,

Buehler is 2-3 with a 2.70 ERA (13 ER/43.1 IP) and has struck

out 43 against just five walks. He has also limited hitters to a

.208 average, while posting a 0.88 WHIP.

HOMER HAPPY: Despite not recording a home run in last night’s

contest, the Dodgers still lead the National League with 155 longballs,

which is 13 more than the Colorado Rockies in the NL and the second

most in the Majors behind just the New York Yankees (175). Los

Angeles also leads the National League in at bats/home run (24.52),

home runs per game (1.38) and extra-base hits (375).

Dodger outfielder Joc Pederson belted a leadoff home run for

the second consecutive game on Friday, as he collected his

eighth career leadoff homer and the fifth of the season (T-2nd,

MLB). Pederson became just the second Dodger hitter all-

time to hit a leadoff home run in back-to-back games, joining

Carl Furillo, who accomplished the feat on July 12 and 13,

1951 (source: Stats LLC). The Dodgers have hit nine leadoff

longballs this year, which is the most ever in a single season

in Dodger history and currently ranks second most in the

Majors in 2018, trailing just the Cardinals (10).

QUITE THE COMBO: The Dodgers lead the National League in both

ERA (3.54) and home runs (155), something very few teams have

accomplished in the last 30 seasons:
