How does the Bible say to resolve conflict between two people?

1 Corinthians 1:1010 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the

name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same

mind and in the same judgment.

Galatians 6:1010 As we have therefore opportunity,

let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the

household of faith.Natural personality conflicts are normal

because we form our reasoning abilities from the sum total of each of our own life

experiences. As a member of the family of God we need to know how to resolve

disagreements and conflicts between family members.

Many times God will bring to your mind something you have to do before

he can bless you. Matthew 5:23-24

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

If you know someone has a problem with you (regardless of who is at fault) it must be resolved first before your service to God can be accepted as coming from a pure heart.

Pure Heart

1 Timothy 1:5Now the end of the commandment is charity

out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Pure Heart

Hebrews 10:22Let us draw near with a true heart in full

assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies

washed with pure water.

Pure Heart

1 Peter 1:22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one

another with a pure heart fervently:

The passage in Matthew talks about your brother having a

problem with you. However, the same applies when you are the

one who has a problem with someone else.

Galatians 6:1

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are

spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness;

considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Jesus explains how to resolve a problem with another Christian in detail.

Matthew 18:15-1815 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and

tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

1. Go talk to that person one on one. If that doesn’t work:

2. Take one or two witnesses. If that doesn’t work:

3. Take it before the Church body. If that doesn’t work:

4. Separate fellowship with this person.

Jesus ends this instruction with:

Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on

earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Judgment Seat of Christ.

This means if you can resolve an issue here on earth you will not have to face it at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

The reason this is so important:

Psalm 66:1818 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will

not hear me:

Psalm 119:105105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light

unto my path.

God will give us light to take the next step in our spiritual life.

The reason this is so important:

In order to grow spiritually we have to obey what we know to do. God will not give us new light

until we have used what he has already given us.

The reason this is so important:

Hebrews 12:1515 Looking diligently lest any man

fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many

be defiled;

The reason this is so important:

The other reason is so the issue doesn’t become a ‘root of bitterness’.

What makes this so dangerous is that it will effect others around you. ‘and thereby many be defiled’.

Romans 14:7

7 For none of us livethto himself, and no

man dieth to himself.
