Coming down with the flu is a terrible way to bring in the New Year. While the CDC has reported that the current flu vaccine is less effective this year, check out these tips to
help prevent the flu!
Wash Your Hands• One of the easiest defense
mechanisms against fighting the flu is washing your hands. By keeping them clean and sanitized, you will reduce the risk of getting sick!
Eat Healthy• By giving eating a healthy
diet, your body will be able to get the proper nutrients and vitamins it needs to operate which will also boost your immune system.
Vitamin C• While eating healthy can
significantly reduce your chances of getting the flu, consider boosting your immune system with Vitamin C. Drinking orange juice and taking a multivitamin can help vamp up your immune system.
Avoid Others Who Are Sick • Distance yourself from
friends or family that have the flu because it’ll reduce your chance of getting sick. This tip is especially important for children because they tend to touch more germy objects. Take it from Claire Dwoskin who is a child health advocate, keeping your child healthy is important!
Stock Up• In the event you catch a
cold, be sure you have some basic cold necessities in stock like: tissues, cold medicine, sports drinks for rehydration, easy to prepare meals and hand sanitizer.
