Select the Unit of Dimensions



It can be in pixel (px)



Or millimeter (mm)



Or Inches (in)

Let’s start creating our

attractive poster.



In this tutorial, we will use our own uploaded

image



Click Uploads



Shortcut: You can drag

an image



From the folder in your device



Directly to Canva window



To upload it



Let's do the other way



Click Upload your own images



A new window will pop out



To get the image



Saved in your device



Click the image filename



Click Open



Wait until uploading is finished



There is the

uploaded image



To add the uploaded image in the canvas



Click the image



This is now on your canvas



You can resize it to cover the whole canvas



Just stretch the image in or out



Until it covers the whole canvas



Click filter to add filter to the image



You can crop

it



Click the ✔ sign when done



Or ✘ to cancel



You can Copy the image



Move it forward



Or at the back of another object on your canvas



You can delete this also

Let's add text



Click Text



Click Add headline



You will see this



You can change the font type



The font size



And even the font color



Type your headline (text) here



To make it more readable



Add a textoverlay



Overlay is simply a thing (usually a shape)



Put under text to make it

more readable



It comes in a solid

color



Or a little bit

transparent



To add overlay,

click Elements



Click Shapes



Choose a

rectangle



Resize the shape



By stretching it in or out



An important property of overlay is the color



Select a color of your overlay



From one of the colors of image in the poster



✍It is best to use minimal colors in the

poster



✍Choose colors that are complimentary with each other



✍Use Eyedropper to get the exact color from existing image.



What is an eyedropper or Color picker?



Eyedropper is a Chrome

extension to pick color from web.



In your Chrome browser



Click this



Click More Tools



Then Extensions



New tab will open this



Scroll down



And click Get more extensions



New tab will open to this



Search for the

Eyedropper



Type Eyedropper

here



The Eyedropper is here



Click Add To Chrome



You will see this when the eyedropper is already added



BACK TO OUR CANVAS



Click the Eyedropper icon



Click Pick color from the web page



Click the color in the image to pick it



Click the eyedropper tool again



Get the color ID here



Highlight and copy it (Press Ctrl+C or COMMAND+C)



Go back to our canvas

desired frame



It's now in your canvas



To put a picture inside

a frame



Simply drag an image inside it



You can add your

Company logo



As an example...

Go to to Uploads


Select the image


Drag the logo image inside the frame



You can put a

filter to image

inside the frame



Click Filter



Choose a filter



And see the effect to your image



Double click the frame



To resize the image inside it



Or reposition the image inside the

frame



Click the ✔ sign if done



Or ✘ to cancel



You can resize the frame itself



Just stretch the corner in or out

Drag the frame



In your desired position in the poster
