What Do You Need To Start?
• Choose your VR development platform:
• Google Cardboard
• Oculus Rift
• Gear VR
• HTC Vive
• Other
• Choose your development environment:
• Windows/Android
• Windows/proprietary SDK (Steam VR, Rift)
• OSX/iOS
• Choose your application development tool
• Unity
• Unreal Engine
• Cryengine
• Low-level OpenGL/DirectX (Direct Reality)
How To Deploy Your VR App
• Port/expand to deployment VR platform(s)
• Select Store you want to deploy:
• Google Play/Apple Store (cardboard)
• Oculus/Gear VR store
• SteamVR store
• Other
• Keep in mind some stores may take as much as 3-4 weeks to approve application deployment
Beginners Development Set up
• You want a VR development environment that you have lots of access to
• We recommend Google cardboard (with Bluetooth controller http://a.co/51QAUHO)
• Android (highly recommended) or iOS
• Unity game engine
• From this basic VR development environment it is easy to then port to your school Oculus Rift

Set up your development environment
• Step 1: Install the Andriod SDK (windows) or iOS SDK (MacOS)
• Step 2: Install Unity
• Step 3: Create your virtual environment
• Step 4: Build and test your app in your phone
• Step 5: Deploy in Oculus Rift
Step 1: Install Android SDK

• Make sure you select a download that INCLUDES the Android SDK
• Get in the habit of using the Android SDK manager to stay current with new android releases
