About Bilingual Celebrations
• In many dioceses of the USA, the most popular languages are English and Spanish. Pastors are asking for help from their musicians.
• The purpose of a bilingual celebration is inclusion of those present (not exclusion).
• In all bilingual celebrations, there must be a spirit of cooperation, collaboration and a sense of sacrifice.
• All liturgical celebrations are communal. We celebrate together.
Tips for your Choir
• Have the Spanish speaking members and the English speaking members of the music ministry serve together.
• During rehearsals, give an opportunity to have a little bit of social interaction.
• For a more authentic Spanish speaking sound, remember these two items:– One vowel sound per vowel– Soften your consonants
• Practice pronouncing the text before singing.
