Active Learning
Create a treasure hunt for your parents and/or siblings – hide 10-20 items around your home and create clues to help your hunters find them.
Think about how to train a pet, if you have one, to follow instructions such as sit, stay, down, wait etc. Make playdough and use it to create some sculptures of things you can see from your window.
HOW TO MAKE PLAYDOUGH
Playdough ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup salt 4 teaspoons cream of tartar 2 cups lukewarm water 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works too) Food colouring, optional Freezer or zip-lock bags – small and large
Stir together the flour, salt and cream of tartar in a large pot. Next, add the water and oil. If you’re only making one colour, add in the colour now as well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue stirring until the dough has thickened and begins to form into a ball. Remove from heat and then place inside a large zip-lock or freezer bag or onto wax paper. Allow to cool slightly and then knead until smooth. If you’re adding colours after, divide the dough into balls (for how many colours you want) and then add the dough into the smaller-sized bags. Start with about 5 drops of colour and add more to brighten it. Knead the dough, while inside the bag so it doesn’t stain your hands. Once it’s all mixed together you’re ready to PLAY.
Spring-clean or re-organise a cupboard. Identify things that could be donated to charity at a later date. Play a card game: Go Fish, Speed, Solitaire/Patience, UNO, Old Maid, Snap. See the link for some games and
instructionshttps://www.kidspot.com.au/things-to-do/kids-games/indoor-play/snap-12-classic-card-games-to-teach-the-kids/news-story/1d153893aee53908749c1377c588928c
Play a board game in physical or app form. For example, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders, Checkers, Chess
Play charades or Heads Up. Apps are available. Practise relaxation, mindfulness techniques, meditation. Set up an indoors hopscotch – be mindful of your neighbours if you live upstairs. Create a safe obstacle course inside. Only do this under the supervision of an adult. Take a Yoga class

English - Reading
Complete the Read At Home Bingo chart
Choose a book that everyone in the house can read either in organised book-club mode – each person reads a set number of pages per day (this obviously takes timetabling if only one copy of the book is available) or as a read-aloud. Have a discussion about the book once everyone has read the sections identified.

Maths
Practise your mental maths strategies dailyhttps://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10
Support your child with different online learning activitieshttps://www.prodigygame.com/pages/parents/
Bingo is always a class favourite, and you can play it with any number of children. You can also make up your own. The way it works is students have to solve math problems in order to know what number to mark off on their sheet.
Help with simple household tasks, such as laying the table. Find out how many plates or chairs will be needed. If you are baking or cooking, weigh or count out spoonfuls. Use fractions, too, dividing things into halves and quarters. A standard six, nine, or 12 bun tin offers a wonderful opportunity to practise addition and/or multiplication skills.

Design and Technology - Cooking
Bake some cookies, a cake or brownies. Remember to think about your measuring skills from maths and science lessons.
Have an indoor picnic. Grab a sheet, some food (real or make-believe) and enjoy a living room picnic. You could play memory games such as, “I’m going to the picnic and I’m bringing 1 sandwich. I’m going to the picnic and I’m bringing 2 apples and 1 sandwich. I’m going to the picnic and I’m bringing 3…, 2…, and 1…”
Design a pizza menu and then choose one of them to make either in edible or make-believe form.

Art and Design
Redesign your home by drawing a plan of the house/apartment and re-create a new layout that includes a study/office area, technology-free zones, fitness area etc. You might have to invent new multipurpose tools that transform from one thing into another for example, a workstation that turns into a bed etc.
Paint self-portraits of everyone in your household. We will add any submissions to our virtual art gallery.

English - Writing
Write a letter – not an email – to post to a grandparent, the NHS, a classmate, a relative. Write a reflective travel journal about your last holiday. Create a plan or itinerary for the first holiday you
would like to take when the stay-at-home period is over. Keep a Stay-At-Home diary/journal. This time in our lives is something none of us has ever experienced.
Keeping a diary is something that can be kept and shared with generations in the future. You may even want to learn how to journal: https://www.homeschooling-ideas.com/journaling-for-kids.html
