Via regional specifics - doesn't really convey a clear message. Perhaps "from global challenges to local priorities (previous slides)A combination of unique and shared challenges drive toward the need for smart cities today.

This picture with the guy sleeping in the middle doesn't portray a "smart city" to me, and it doesn't work in the US. If we are trying to capture liveable, how about children playing on a playground in an urban environment?

From siloed management to a holistic plan With pain-points to solve

Melissa W. O'Mara
Are we trying to show the different kinds of infrastructure systems or the functional painpoints as the slide implies (or public needs?? Safety and security missing here, as well as public health. Perhaps Public Safety instead of Buildings? Depends on the message you are trying to convey

Melissa W. O'Mara
Cities have always had to play across the value chain

Melissa W. O'Mara
Incorrect grammar - Building block (not building blocks) .On the left are outcomes that the city wants. On the right are enablers of those outcomes. Outcomes- based design is becoming a big trend here - I hear this articulated in many places, and that's good for us - it drives smart infrastructure requirements. It is also similar to what we do in performance contracting - plus we guarantee outcomes in PC.

5 success factors to ‘smart’

Visionary leadership

Laying the foundation

Integration

Innovation

Collaboration

Melissa W. O'Mara
Better than 5 steps to smart. I still am not sure why innovation and collaboration are last in the list. Also, what about shared vision? What about measurable outcomes - start with the end in mind? We are hearing that cities need a roadmap. Even if the city has a clear vision, and clear outcomes in mind, they need to help with laying down the roadmap. I see on next slide that "Getting started" is meant to address some of this. Call it Shared Vision? Or Aligned Vision and Roadmap"Also - the iterative nature of this work is missing from this. Culture of interative innovation, continuous improvement.
Page 15: How to Make Smart Cities a Reality Today: Five Factors for Success
