II – THE PROGRAM OF PRAYER – THY KINGDOM COME

1.) The word “Kingdom” or “Basileia” in the Greek does not refer to a geographic territory but to sovereignty and dominion.

When we pray “Thy Kingdom come” we are to pray for God’s rule or his glorious reign on earth to begin.

2.) “Come” (Greek erchomai) which means the sudden, instantaneous coming (Mathew 24:27). It is the coming of the millennial Kingdom of which the Lord is speaking. The greek could be translated “Let thy kingdom come now”

A.) Praying for the kingdom to come

B.) Preaching the Kingdom message

The Kingdom of God is the heart of Jesus message (Luke 4:43, Acts 1:3, Mathew 6:33)

Jesus preached that true salvation is required for those who wish to enter his Kingdom. (John 3:5, Mark 10:15, Mathew 7:21)

II – THE PROGRAM OF PRAYER – THY KINGDOM COME

C.) Practical points in prioritizing the Kingdom in prayer

a.) The Kingdom comes by conversion (Mathew 18:1 to 4) – Prayer should be evangelistic Currently God’s kingdom on earth is internal, that is Jesus Christ reigns in the hearts and minds of those who belong to him. We should pray that more people will commit their lives to Jesus Christ.

b.) The Kingdom comes now through commitment – If you are truly saved your desire is to respond to the rule of Christ in your life. We are to continually pray that our lives will continue to honor him and submit to his rule.
