Misplacing Modifiers

“SOME ,MODIFIERS ESPECIALY SIMPLE MODIFIERS-ONLY,JUST,NEARLY,BARELY-HAVE A BAD HABIT OF SLIPPPING INTO THE WRONG PLACE IN A SENTENCE.”(WHAT DOES “BARELY KICK” MEAN?)

DANGLING MODIFIERS

When a modifier improperly modifies something, it is called a “dangling modifier.”

Changing the oil every 3,000 miles, there is an easy way to keep your car running smoothly.

Comparative/superlative

The two basic ways to compare are using …as or than.

Examples She’s twice as old as her sister. He’s not as stupid as he looks! It’s much colder today than it was yesterday.

I find science more difficult than mathematics.
