Principal’s News

Dear Families

Music Room Refurbishment

Next year due to increasing home area enrolments we will need an additional

class - 4 Kindergarten classes and 22 Prep – Year 6 classes. To accommodate

this the current music room will be redeveloped as two separate classrooms.

Toilet facilities will be included in the redevelopment. Music sessions will be

conducted in the single classroom (currently Year 4 Hughes) situated behind the

Multi-Purpose Hall. The Out of School Hours Care sessions that are currently

conducted in the music room will be accommodated in a general learning area

that is being fitted out in the library.

Parent Information Session

Next Tuesday 7 November at 7:00pm our information session will be held for

parents of next year’s Kindergarten students, presented by Mrs Purdie Reason

in the school library. The session provides valuable information for parents

regarding our Kindergarten program. I will also be there and am looking forward

to catching up with parents at the session.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Information Session Reminder

On July 1 2017 the NDIS became available to children aged 4–11 years. Mission

Australia provide the local area Coordination Transition Services for our region.

A representative from the team at Mission Australia will present an information

session at Howrah Primary on November 1 at 7.00pm.

Uniform Committee News

The Uniform survey conducted earlier in the year, along with feedback from the

Parents and Friends sub-committee, indicated strongly that a school skort, a long

sleeve polo top and a softshell jacket be introduced as uniform items.

The Uniform Committee has now sourced a supplier for these items. The intention

is for the soft shell jacket to gradually replace the cardigan and polar fleece jacket.

Next year will be a transition year during which polar fleece jackets, cardigans and

soft shell jackets will all be school uniform items. These new items will be on display

in the administration area next week.
