Structured forHigh Performance Machining
The major castings on the H.Plus Series accountfor 40% of the total machine weight. This mass issupported by means of a 5 point leveling system,thereby minimizing bed deformity and maximisingmachine stability. The cast iron bed has substan-tial ribbing and thick outer walls, forming a highlyrigid base. This results in sustained accuracy andperformance, even when operating at the ex-tremely high feed rates the machine generates.
The column is highly rigid and thermallysymmetric and contributes to highly accuratemovement and positioning of the headstock.

Tool changing is fast and reliable, thanks to asimple and highly durable double-grip type ATCarm. The ATC is separated from the machiningarea by means of an automatic door that preventsswarf/chip contamination.
Easy ATC and APC recovery
The tool magazines on the H.Plus-300 andH.Plus-405 allow access to tools even during themachining process, with the exception of theH.Plus-300A. This results in a reduction of set uptime. Satisfying the requirements of in-lineproduction applications, the tool magazine on theH.Plus-300A is located on top of the machine toreduce its width.

The fast rotating-type 2 pallet changer isstandard for the H.Plus-300 and H.Plus-405, andan optional extra for the H.Plus 300A. Extremelycompact multi-pallet systems, incorporating 5,11, or 17 pallets are available as options. Thepallet at the work setting up station can berotated and positioned at each 90 degreeposition. High pressure coolant system(with coolant temperature controller )
Coolant discharge pressure can betailored to the individual work andtooling requirements with the op-tional FP50 and FP70 units. Devel-oped and manufactured by Matsuurato provide 5 & 7 MPa respectively,these units also feature an integralcoolant temperature controller whichmaintains machining accuracy andminimizes thermal growth by keepingcoolant at a constant temperature.
Coolant thru spindleThe H.Plus range of spindles are designed to be ready to
have this option fitted in the field, with the minimum offuss and machine downtime, as and when your businessrequires.
As with all Matsuura machines, the spindle is designedand manufactured in-house utilizing many decades ofexperience and know-how in high speed, high accuracymachining. The spindle and motor are connected byMatsuura's unique gear coupling. This has a high helicalrigidity, thereby virtually eliminating backlash andtransferring without loss all the benefits of the latestgeneration of motors directly tothe spindle.
The standard spindle is15,000min-1 (H.Plus-300/300A) and 12,000 min-1
(H.Plus-405). These aredesigned and rigorously tested to copewith cutting a wide range of materials from steel toaluminum. Optional 20,000 min-1 and 30,000min-1
spindles are available for the high-speed cutting ofaluminum, hardened steel etc.

Lift-up chip conveyor with hyper disks
To prevent the accumulation of swarf/chips inside the machine,the telescopic Z axis cover has a steep slope with no areas for swarfto gather. The total guard is designed with this in mind. The chipsfall directly into the gutters, where they are removed by a highpressure coolant flow into the coolant tank located at the rear of themachine. The gutters are covered, forming an insulation spacebetween the cover and the bed. This reduces the transfer of heatfrom coolant to the bed.
This system, installed at the outlet of the conveyor,captures most of the chips stuck to the conveyor platesand reduces the volume of coolant outflow.
1. Large chips fall down at the outlet of
the conveyor. The reduced area of the
outlet contributes to the reduction of
coolant outflow.
2. Smaller chips are freed from theconveyor plates as they travel through thechip separation tank. Excess coolant fallsinto the separation tank and is then returnedto the main tank.
These filters capture excess chips thatescape the Chip capturing system.
Cleaning nozzles wash the chipsstuck to the filters into the chipconveyor.
Only clean, chip free coolant is returnedto the coolant tank.

The air dryer, air equipment and hydraulic unit are situated at therear of the machine for easy access and inspection. The ballscrews andlinear guideways are lubricated by means of oil impregnated seals.Lubrication for the ballscrew support bearings is provided by long life,high performance grease. The lack of conventional lubrication oil keepscoolant clean and contaminant free. The optional support bearinggrease unit makes the system virtually maintenance free for longperiods. These contribute greatly to reduced running and maintenancecosts, and maximizes machine uptime.

Handy ManII is a collection of powerful HMI (Human Machine Interface)software. Supplied as a standard item on the H Plus Series, this software has aproven track record for simplifiedprogramming, the easy setting ofworkpieces, performing machineoperations and machine maintenance.
A tool offset list can be generated anddisplayed from any program. As thisfunction is linked to the ATC and TLMoperations, tool setting time can besignificantly reduced and errors practi-cally eliminated.
Simple, on screen instructions leadyou through the tool measurementprocess. The data generated is automati-cally stored in the offset value list.
The center of any workpiece can bedetected and measured by once againfollowing the on-screen instructions.The workpiece data will automatically beset in the co-ordinate value list.
Machining programs can be auto-matically created by entering data inresponse to on screen prompting. Onceentered, this data can be displayed as a3D solid model.
3. Operation support
Nine sets of M code counters aresupplied for counting workpieces, toollife etc,etc.
Real time on screen simulation of awork piece being machined can be mostuseful in terms of verifying pro-grammes/cutter paths before applyingthe program to the actual component.Also, work in progress can be moni-tored if visibility in the enclosure isreduced by coolant.
4. Easy maintenanceMachine uptime can be maximized
thanks to the easy to follow recoveryand alarm screens.
Status at a glance alarm messagesSimple, straight forward alarm messages instantly display the ma-
chines condition and lead you through a "step by step" corrective actionrecovery procedure. All alarm messages are recorded into the controlmemory, along with the time and date.
On the 840DI, the location of actuators and limit switches are shownon screen by means of a diagram or photograph. Machine recoveryfrom any problem is quick and simple, assuring minimum downtime.
