HSEFACT SHEET

Our MissionAnadarko Petroleum Corporation’s mission is to deliver a competitive and sustainable rate of return to shareholders by exploring for, acquiring for and developing oil and natural gas resources vital to the world’s health and welfare. As of year-end 2017, the company had approximately 1.44 billion barrels-equivalent of proved reserves, making it one of the world’s largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies.

Our Health & Safety Vision We are committed to being industry-leading with our health and safety performance. Our efforts in 2017 included:

• Establishing a Safety and Process Safety Review Group to pursue assessments of process at Anadarko

• Understanding the performance and efforts of our peer companies through peer assessments and benchmarking surveys

• Increasing communication of safety efforts through use of consistent messaging and campus-wide safety meetings

• Updating our policies and programs for areas of improvements

We are aiming to improve the science and data around emissions and work to reduce emissions from our operations. The following are examples of our 2017 achievements.

Our Technical Water Working and Seismicity Working Groups assist Anadarko in the management of water and related environmental matters, using a five-part water strategy.

As part of our commitment to sustainably develop essential energy resources, we recognize our responsibility to protect our environment, biodiversity and public health.

The Environmental PartnershipAnadarko is a founding member of The Environmental Partnership, which includes more than 30 natural gas and oil producers. Participating companies will begin implementing voluntary programs targeted at reducing emissions from a significant portion of the participating companies’ American energy resources.

CSU/DOE StudyAnadarko partnered with Colorado State University (CSU) to provide support for a $1.8 million U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funded study that aims to:

• Conduct a field measurement campaign;

• Consolidate and publish measurement results;

• Develop a national model of gathering operations; and

• Publish a national model of methane emissions, including activity-weighted emission factors.

Strategic PartnershipsEach year our teams work to continue to reduce risks around water management, including induced seismicity. In 2017, Anadarko participated on the advisory board for Texas Center of Integrated Seismicity Research (CISR) and joined the Stanford Center for Induced and Triggered Seismicity (SCITS).

Focus Areas

Key ProjectThe Pecos River watershed provides habitat for many species endemic to Texas and New Mexico. It’s a rich source of biodiversity amid tens of thousands of square miles of native grasslands, shrublands and dunes. Anadarko is a founding partner of the Pecos Watershed Conservation Initiative, which seeks to deploy conservation outcomes that provide lasting benefits.

The DJ Basin water team uses Anadarko’s water risk tool to identify and evaluate potential risks associated with life-cycle water management, including sourcing, transportation, treatment, use and disposal. The team uses a combination of permanent and temporary water lines to move fresh water to locations.

Accomplishments include:

• Delivering more than 185 million barrels of water through the Water on Demand system while using more than 150 miles of water pipelines installed to-date and serving multiple completion crews

• Testing multiple water treatment technologies to treat production and flowback water to both frac quality and river discharge quality targets for enhanced optionality

• Working with multiple state agencies to clarify primacy and regulations governing produced water recycling in Colorado

The Delaware Basin team exemplified the importance of productivity and safety assurance at the Ramsey Facility. Anadarko personnel from operations, engineering and HSE partnered with our contractor workforce to create a project plan. The project plan was a seven-day turnaround and consisted of high-risk activities such as critical lifts, permitted confined space entry, and welding/cutting next to pressurized piping. The key to success with the project was the upfront planning, commitment to safety and team work.

By delivering on the plan, the team gave life to our core values through the following accomplishments:

• Creating a team dedicated to identifying, accessing and mitigating risk around the project plan’s preparation and execution.

• Monthly, weekly, and daily meetings were held to ensure all identified risks were discussed and a clear and concise plan was established.

• The team recognized three stop work events, which provided a learning opportunity and a safe work environment.

While drilling exploration wells in the Colombian Caribbean in 2016 and 2017, our ROV cameras encountered deep-sea marine fauna previously unknown in the area. Anadarko HSE personnel worked with California State University’s Pacific Shark Research Center, the Smithsonian Institute, NOAA and the University of Hawaii to identify a deep-sea squid, sleeper shark and cirrated octopus.
