Monson Agencies China – FAQ
How do I nominate Monson as my agent in China?In your charter party / contract with the ship owner you must request “Charterer’s agents at discharge”, this will allow you the option to nominate Monson Agencies China as the discharge agent.
Does Monson have an office in each Chinese Port?No, due to the vast number of Chinese ports, Monson do not physically hold offices in each port. Monson Agencies China will appoint a local renowned agent in the port of discharge in which they will communicate with. You will only have one point of contact in China and will not need to keep track of who is who in every Chinese port. We will do that for you.
What if my receivers request a particular local agent at the port of discharge?If a particular agent is requested by the receiver at the port of discharge then Monson Agencies will communicate, negotiate a fee and do the required checks to ensure they are reliable, experienced and perform a good service. If this is so, Monson Agencies will appoint this agent as the ‘local agent’ to ensure receivers are satisfied. Monson Agencies China will then still be the primary contact (and act as the head agent) for you as the charterer/shipper to ensure your interests are also protected. There is no extra cost to the charterer or owner when this results.
What are the benefits to appointing Monson as my agent in China?There are many benefits of appointing Monson as your agent in China and a few are highlighted below:-
One point of contact either from our Australian head office or Chinese office
Having the same load and discharge port agent results in better information and document flow
Fluent English speaking agents Protect your interests at all times Ensure timely updates and co-ordination with the local port agents
Arrangement of original bill of lading or LOI delivery
Control of cargo at stockpile with customs release
Arrangement of additional services such as draft survey/supervision
Supervision and direct appointment of CIQ surveyor to assist with favourable out turn figure.
Does Monson’s network extend into China?Yes it does. Over the past 3 years we have slowly been expanding our presence in China to assist our customers as and where required. We are now attending to approximately 40 vessel port calls per month across China and this figure is expanding every month.
