DESCRIPTION

During the past 30+ years, Huber & Associates, as a roofing contractor, has focused primarily on premium roofing materials, each one involving a specialized craft all of its own, that could be classified as lifetime materials. Slate quarried from natural deposits, split from slabs and cut to size; Clay mined, refined, molded and baked to a vitrified state, pure copper smelted from ore and rolled into a sheet; great cedars, harvested, milled or split to produce the shingle or shake: recycled and reclaimed teak shingles processed from old houses, palaces, bridges and railroad tracks, some dating back to the Southeast Asia’s colonial era, Royalwood™ Wallaba shingles manufactured from Guyana, South American sustainable harvested logs, water reed or rye grasses, carefully harvested, cleaned and bundled by hand to be dressed on a roof by skilled hands to protect a structure for up to 60 years; each of these natural life-time materials brings to architecture a rich natural beauty.

Necker Island ResortHuber & Associates was chosen for re-roofing the resort’s natural thatch roofs. Huber & Associ-ates used the patented Endureed® synthetic thatch as the selected roofing product eliminating the ongoing maintenance of the natural thatch and concerns of fire rating. Endureed® is man-ufactured in the United States and is UV, fire and wind resistant. Our company was a natural choice for the installation, as our president and founder, Barry Huber, invented this thatch prod-uct. Necker Island is situated in the outskirts of the British Virgin Islands, and is rife with logisti-cal challenges. Materials often simply hauled by hand, through the steep trails leading up to the private villas that overlook the steep ocean cliffside. Due to the resort’s popularity, the re-roofing needed to be completed within a strict, aggressive deadline. The project went flawlessly, and was completed ahead of schedule.

BELLA COLLINAOverlooking rolling hills, vineyards and beautiful lakes, the unique Tuscan inspired design at Bella Collina is a perfect example of combining old world aesthetic with today’s strict building and wind codes. The clay roof tiles were installed with old Italy in mind, incorporating: random stacking tiles, triple tiles at eaves, random exposures and courses, and finally a mortar-set look throughout the field tiles. Huber & Associates successfully engineered the roof to not only support the weight over open roof battens, but simultaneously met the strict Florida wind uplift codes as well. The charm is both obvious above, and warm and inviting below, with the tile visi-ble on open battens.

PRIVATE RESIDENCEHuber & Associates was called upon to install a doubly challenging roof at a beautiful estate on the Big Island of Hawaii. Not only was the roof elliptical in two directions but, a diminishing coursing effect was important to accent the unique shape. To create this, varying sized shingles were steamed to hug the roof’s contour, and laid in courses per a very rigid set of elliptical radial lines. The end result demands that one stop to take notice.

Huber & Associates is recognized as being expert in steep slope roof installations and are called upon to perform some of the most beautiful, high quality, and artistic roofing installations.

DYE GOLF CLUBHOUSEThe 20,000-square-foot Pete Dye Clubhouse offers panoramic views of saltwater marshes and the Port Royal Sound. The southern charm of its large verandah and breathtaking views leave this Clubhouse in a class of its own. The crowning touch to this clubhouse is the beautiful blend of slate that adorns the roof. Slate roofing has been around for thousands of years. Its beauty and longevity has made it the roofing choice of many architects and homeowners worldwide. Huber & Associates was privileged to be an integral part of the project.
