Human Diversity in Education Cultural Academic Interest / Skill Social Class

Culture Ethnicity, race, gender,

sexual orientation and class are all aspects that form cultural diversity in education and as teachers we must be prepared to welcome students from all kinds of cultures around the world.

Academic One of the main human

diversities in education is academics. Some students excel in reading, math, science, and in the arts. As teachers we are assessing all the time, in conversations we hold with our students as well as the work they deliver on given assignments. Every child has a different learning style and ability, we must be prepared to work with them all.

Interests / Skill Another human diversity in

education are the skills and interests that students partake in. For example, some students might join the schools choir, football team or band. As teachers we must teach our students to find a common ground with each other and build a bridge to one another to be able to confront differences with equanimity.

Social Class In many schools you

have the “cliques” or the gangs that form part of human diversity in education. As future educators we must guide our students towards the right path so that they won’t give into any bad influences.

environment which accepts and fosters diversity.”

Must demonstrate knowledge & awareness of varied cultures and linguistic backgrounds. Create a climate of openness, by practicing acceptance, tolerance, resolution and mediation.
