    The Barraquer Foundation wasfounded in the year 2003 byProf. Joaquin Barraquer and Drs.Rafael and Elena Barraquer. Itsmain objective is the diffusionof ophthalmology and becomeuniversal in its most humanita-rian aspect.

    Among its sphere of actionstands out to facilitate nancialand assistance aid to patients inneed at Third World countries.The Joaquin Barraquer Re-search Chair in Ophthalmology

    offers support to ophthalmologyinvestigations, award scholar-ships in the eld of ophthalmol-ogy and promote The Eye Bankfor the Treatment of Blindness.

    The Barraquer Foundation hascollaborated jointly with the

    Clars Foundation at severalhumanitarian expeditions incountries such as India, Gabn,Camern and Senegal.

    Other projects are being plannedfor this year and next year, indifferent countries of Africa.
