Welcome to Hunter River High School for an exciting and productive 2016. Although rain welcomed our Year 7, Year10 Jump Start Leaders and Years 11 & 12 for their first day, there were many smiles, no tears and loads of great activities. If you and your family are new to our school, welcome to our school community. We pride ourselves on the positive culture we have developed and the strong reputation we have built locally. HRHS is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) School with strong core values: Harmony, Respect, Honesty and Success. We teach expected behaviours through PBL lessons regularly to ensure students know what is expected in terms of behaviour at our school. Thank you to our Jump Start Leaders who gave up the last day of their holiday to make welcome our Year 7 students. Uniform Many students today wore with pride the new everyday polo shirts and looked fabulous. As of Wednesday, Lowes had sold over 1,400 shirts and were doing their best to keep up with demand. The shorter style of shorts have been a little slow to arrive, but are expected to be in store by the weekend. This addition to our uniform was endorsed by the P&C last year as many students were wearing the plain polo shirts that were never an official item of our uniform. The new shirt looks smart and the logo displays to those in the broader community our deep school pride. The button up cotton shirt is still our formal uniform and can be worn everyday as in the past. Students who have the plain polo shirts are still able to wear them during 2016. The new shorts have our school initials on the leg and also look great. We have sourced a comfortable and appropriate length short due to the many unsuitable shorts previously worn to school. When purchasing new shorts, please purchase the correct style from Lowes. Black leather upper shoes and white socks are also required please.
