    Students on Monday

    As two of five current school board members, wewould like to thank the community for their support ofour district in the recent election. The levy renewal willhelp us maintain funding levels for another 2-3 years;

with its passage we can stay on pace with our predict-ed five year financial forecast. On a personal level, wewant to express our sincere gratitude to the residentsand staff that supported us throughout the campaign. We would also like to make a plea to all Huron residentsto put aside the rhetoric and animosity that has perme-ated our community over the last 18 months. We praythat the energy, focus, and passion expended duringthe campaign will be replaced with civility and respectfor the sake of our children. The future fate of our com-munity will be determined much more by its residentsthan by individual board members.

There are many learning lessons to take away fromthis election for all of us. We look forward to serving theentire community and giving our children the qualityeducational opportunities they deserve.

    BYMARYSTRAYER, MASTERGARDENER,

Look outside your windows, with snow in the forecast, youcould notice that the garden will stand barren and white.Watch it carefully as the snow piles up. Is there someplaceyou would like to have an architectural element, a statue, anew shrub to give the garden even more shape and form?Look at it carefully, especially out the windows where you sitthe most, at any time of the day. Is there something great tosee? Try to envision a red holly shrub, with its bright red ber-

ries still attached. Would you like to look at a swaying grasssuch as Miscanthus? Make yourself a note; put it into yourday planner, or your garden journal, so you can rememberthese thoughts early next spring.

Now, when the winds calm down, and you begin againto get cabin fever, go outside and look at the trunks at theground level, and see if there are any rodent tracks or tunnelsthere. If you find your tree trunk has had damage from ro-dents nibbling on it, then there still might be time to removethe snow from around the tree trunk, and cover the bottom ofthe trunk with a piece of plastic flexible pipe used for drains.Simply cu a length, and stretch it around the damaged area.Again, make a note to remove the pipe in mid spring.

If you havent already done so, take time now to go overthe garden catalogs online, or ones that might have come inthe mail. Every year, I try to add at least one knew thing tomy garden. Over the last 3 years, I have been cutting down

on the size of the gardens, and the work that has to be donethere. But, still, I will add at least one new thing each year. Some will say its crazy, but I believe that as long as you canstill actively garden, you need a little new each year to keepyour mind happy and spirits high. Even if you can only havea few pots outside your condo door, change what is in themeach year. Have fun with gardening, every minute you pos-sibly can. Happy Gardening.

    BYCHRISMISCHLER

Medina, OH - Trailing 10-6 and aftertrading blows for most of the secondhalf of play, Loudonville mustered up aTD drive. With the aid of two untimelypersonal foul penalties, the oppositionstrung together plays that culminatedwith a one yard dive by the Loudonville

QB with just 3:34 left in the game. Thescore was now 13-10 and Huron trails forthe first time all night. As a Tiger fan, itwas hard to be optimistic.

Both defenses had played extremelywell all night. Huron stopped the oppo-sitions rushing attack, something thathad given the Tigers trouble all year. But,the Loudonville front seven had boxed inQB Cody Thompson all game long, veryreminiscent of what Clyde had done inthe Tigers worst loss of the season. Theonly time Thompson had broken freewas midway through the first quarterwhen he scampered into the end zonefrom 29 yards out. Other than a Dusza 32yard field goal during the second quarter,

that had been the extent of the Tiger fire-power.It was then that the 2013 edition of Ti-

ger football came up with their own ver-sion of The Drive. With a little over threeminutes left to play and Thompson in theshotgun, the QB found Zach Souter threetimes for gains that kick started the drive. When Huron needed to convert a thirddown, they did. The big play of the gamecame with Huron on the Loudonville 33yard line. Thompson rolls to his right andfinds nothing but a Loudonville LB wait-ing for him. He spins quickly and sprintsback to his left. At the same time, RB Tom-my Bogden drifts down the right sideline.

Thompson spots him and fires the ball(while running in the opposite direction)downfield and hits Bogden who leapsover one would-be tackler, then bulls his

way to the two yard line. With the Huronfans going crazy, Bogden then finds ahole on the right side of the line for thegame winning touchdown with 1:11 toplay. Dusza hits the critical extra pointto ensure Loudonville will have to scorea touchdown to win. They dont comeclose. Tigers win 17-13.

Coach Legandos squad will now playthis Saturday, November 23rd for the Re-gional Championship in Findlay, at Find-lay Donnell Stadium, against the alwaystough team from Coldwater. Note: Con-grats to Coach Legando who just notchedhis 197th career victory last week!

(ABOVE) WR Nick Stauffer (3) makes a tough grab. (BELOW) Tommy Bog-den scores the game clinching TD! (RIGHT) Zach Souter (32) has fine gameas the teams top receiver.

Tigers Run-n-Shoot Their Way Past Loudonville, 17-13

The H-Team is a group of communityfootball supporter volunteers behind thescenes support for the football teams. Ev-ery week after practice on the night be-fore a game, the Huron H-Team, feeds the

JV and Varsity football teams. Each weekone or more student(s) who shows lead-ership in practice, on the field as well asin the class room is awarded a steak din-ner. The Huron H-Team is pleased to an-

nounce that the Steak of the Week win-ner for this week is Tobin Knight. Tobin isa senior football players at Huron Highschool. We ask that the entire city of Hu-ron come support the Tigers at 7:00PM

this Saturday as they travel to FindlayHigh Schools Donnell Stadium, to take onColdwater, the Division 5 defending statechamps, in the 2013 OHSAA Football Di-vision 5 Region 16 Final.
