hydraulic energy
Is one that is obtained from the use of the kinetic and potential energy from rivers, waterfalls
and tides
What is it?
It is a type of green energy, which is friendly to the environment when
environmental impact is minimal and uses the force of water without
damages, otherwise it is considered only a form of renewable energy.
waterWater is the most essential
characteristic of our planet with enormous potential for
exploitation, it is not only used for drinking or cleaning but also as a renewable energy source.
Water cycle1. The sun heats the
sea water causing it to evaporate, forming clouds.
2. These carry water to the highlands of continents where the discharge as rain or snow forming underground rivers and streams
Hidraulic plants
It is one that uses water power to generate electricity. They evolve from the old mills.
These plants exploit the potential energy that the body of water has, a natural channel under
a gradient, also known as jump geodesic.
FeaturesIt is renewable for not exhausted the primary
source to exploit.Clean, producing no pollutants in their exploitation of any kind.Large dams cause great environmental impact. He brings a significant amount of electricity in many countries, in Spain 30%.There are also mini-hydro plants that besides being cheaper are much more respectful of the environment.
El agua en su caída entre dos niveles del cauce se hace pasar por una turbina hidráulica la cual trasmite la energía a un alternador el cual la convierte en energía eléctrica.
Water in the fall between two levels of the channel is passed through a hydraulic turbine which transmits energy to a generator which makes electricity.
PAST CENTRALAlso called water
flux. They have no water reserve which implies that the flow
supplied depends on the
season
The river is diverted to an area high by a dam and water leads to a small surge tank from where it
is released to the turbine by a penstock that increases their kinetic energy and constant flow
CENTRAL RESERVEWater is stored by a dam, so the reservoir can
store water from rivers flowing water and use this energy on demand
This stored water is carried through a pipeline to the turbine room that is usually located at the
foot of prey
PUMPING STATION
• It allows a more rational use of water resources because there are two reservoirs located at different height level
• During the peak hours of energy the plant operates as a normal reservation center storing water used in the lower reservoir
• During the hours when energy demand is less water is pumped to the upper reservoir back to the production cycle
Turbine Hall• In the turbine room
transforms the kinetic energy of water into electricity that is incorporated into the power grid
• The turbine is the core element which is responsible for transforming the kinetic energy of water into mechanical and pass through the axis of the alternator
• The alternator generates alternating current of high intensity and low voltage, this current is passed to a processor that makes low-intensity and high voltage making it easier to transport through the posts.
Energy produced by the centrals
- Availability: It is an inexhaustible resource, as long as the water cycle will last.
-"Freedom" (in the proportion that make the oil,
coal, etc..) Does not emit "greenhouse" or cause acid rain, ie, does not pollute the atmosphere, so no expensive methods must be used to cleangas emissions. Avoid flood-regulate the flow
ADVANTAGES
DISADVANTAGES-The dams insurmountable obstacles
Salmon and other species that have to go up rivers to spawn they encounter walls that can not pass."Deprivation of sediments to the lower reaches The silt accumulates in the reservoir nutrient impoverished the rest of the river to the mouth.
- "Pollution" of water The reservoir water has no conditions of salinity, dissolved gases, temperature, nutrients, and other properties of water flowing into the river. "
