The Black Girl Project:

The Sisterhood Summit: BGP’s annual Sisterhood Summit is situated in BGP’s mission to empower young women and girls to navigate the challenging social issues they are faced with around sex, sexuality, and gender by providing a safe environment for them to connect and collaborate with peers, investigate, innovate and explore; in order to educate themselves, educate others, and take action.

+Session Description

‘I got this’ – Young Women’s Guide to the GYN This panel will address reproductive health and rights for young

women who are transitioning from adolescents to adults.  Some of the topics to cover are basic reproductive concerns for young women, concrete overview of a basic gynecological exam and tests that should be preformed at this exam. Expert panelists will address current trends affecting our black girls and women.  A major area to be discussed is how the current laws in healthcare affect the quality of healthcare for young women in America.  Most importantly, tips on navigating this process of achieving proper gynecological care. This panel would include a wide range of advocates, health practitioners, and policy makers.

This panel for the Sisterhood Summit is intended to focus on GYN

visits, the effects of new healthcare reform and proper navigation for young women.
