On a global scale, women represent more than half of college graduates, yet only a small fraction ofthe technology sector workforc e. This is particularly true in emerging economies where incr easing the number of women and girls in Information Technologies (IT) is critical to boosting the socioeconomic s tatus of women in t he developing world. Technical training progra ms are grow ing the pool of qualified women IT profession als in these economies. But to truly succ eed, women entering the field need mentors and role models to support school-to-work transitions, confidence-building, and leadership development skills . NETHOPE WOMEN’S TECHCONNECTProgram OverviewNetHope’s SolutionWomen's TechConnect (WTC) is a global online community and professional mentoring program bringing together technical women in the Western world with the next generation of women in technology in the developing world. Combining 1:1 mentoring, professional development and collaborative problem solving, WTC supports women in Africa, Latin America and other regions to enter, grow and succeed in IT roles. Phase two will engage them as in-country role models and community leaders, encouraging local women and girls to enter technology fields.
