daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray­mond E. Austin of West Dean street, Freeport, has announced plans for her marriage, Monday, to Technical Sergeant Gordon Gerald Misener. U. S. army air forces, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gor­don L. Misener of LaSalle, Niagara Falls.

The ceremony will be performed at the Freeport Methodist church at 5 o'clock, by the Rev. Hubert Jones. Mr. Austin will give hfs daughter in marriage. Mrs. Robert Sheridan of Freeport will be her matron-of-honor. and Miss Mar­garet Pearce of Ithaca, her maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids will be Miss Florence Misener, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Lae C. Aus­tin of Farmingdale, sister-in-law of the bride. The best man and ushers have not been announced as yet. A reception for about 75 guests will follow at the Crystal Lake hotel in Freeport.

Miss Austin, a graduate of Free-port High school and Cornell uni­versity, class of 1943, is on a leave of absence from the engineering department at the Republic Avia­tion plant. Sergeant Misener is a graduate of LaSalle High school and Cornell university, class of 1940. In service nearly four years, he :s home on furlough after 28 months in England. He will report to Camp Dix October 11, for fur­ther assignment.

Mrs. Sheridan was hostess at a miscellaneous shower, Monday n.ght, for the bride-to-be, al the home of her mother, Mrs. Frank P. Wilson, North Ocean avenue, Freeport. Attending were Miss Marjorie Wilson and the Mesdames R. E. Austin, Lee C. Austin, Frank P. Wilson. Herbert Smith, Francis Smith, Charles Bundow, Frank Lee. Robert Wilson and James Cams.

The Rev. Walter Tildesley per­formed the ceremony and Mr. Kali gave his daughter in marriage. Mias Dorothy Merritt of Baldwin was her sole attendant, and Fran­cis Murphy of Tully acted as best man for the bridegroom. Usher­ing were Raymond Wadsworth and Robert Collins of Syracuse, uncles of the bride. . The bride wore a white satin

gown and her fingertip veil fell from a tiara of orf nge blososms. She carried a fan-shaped bouquet of white gladioli. A reception fol­lowed at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Rob­ert Collins of Syracuse.

After a weeks stay at Lake Braningham in the Adirondacks, Mr, and Mrs. Brown will make their home in Tully.

Miss Grabowski Bride Of Sergeant .Olseski

Miss Helen Edna Grabowski, daughter of Mr. and Mr*. John Grabowski of Newbridge avenue, Hempstead, and Staff Sergeant John S. Olseski of Coatesville, Pa., son of Mrs. John S. Zoleski of New Brunswick, N. J., and the late John Olseski, were married August 26 m St. Ladislau's Roman Catholic church, Hempstead. A reception for 50 guests followed at the Fire­side inn, Hempstead. Mrs. Stanley Spyrtca, a cousin of tjie bride, sang at the reception.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white net gown with a long train. Her finger-tip veil fell from a headdress of orange blossoms and she carried white asters. Her sister. Miss Mary Grabowski, was her maid of hon­or. Another sister, Miss Lillian Grabowski, and Mrs. Steve Monko of Coatesville, cousin df the bride, were bridesmaids. Corporal Walter Kornet, U. S. army, of Coatesville, was best man. The ushers were Sergeant Walter Kornet. U. S. army, of Coatesville, and Sergeant Raymond Chmfel, U. S. army, of Hewlett.

The bride g r a d u a t e d from Hempstead High school .and was employed by Republic Aviation corporation, Bethpage. The bride­groom graduated from Coatesville High school and attended Temple university, Philadelphia. He Is a graduate of the Wake Forest col­lege army school, Charleston, N. O, and has been in the armed forces for the past three years. He returned in July from 20 months' overseas duty fn the Atlantic the­ater and is on a 30-day furlough.

After a honeymoon in the Poco-nos, the bridegroom will report to Fort Dix, N. J., for further assign­ment, and the bride will live with her family.

Miss Shade was graduated from Cherry Valley High school, Gar­den City, and ttoe University of Maryland. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Her fiance was graduated from the University of Maryland and is a member of Delta Sigma Phi fra­ternity.

The couple will live in Mary­land.

Miss Shade was honored at a ijridal shower, given by two neigh­bors, Mrs. Fred Schlayer and Mrs. Arthur Izzard, both of Wyatt road, at the latter's home. Guests In­cluded the Mesdames Leslie Fitz-Gibbon, Otto Flagg, Chris Hanson, William Izzard, Robert Mentzinger, Donald McAdoo, Harry . Richter, Elmer Shade, Henry Thomson, Lawrence Zimmerlein; and later, the husbands and escorts who joined - the women for a buffet supper.

Miss Rita Dugan Fiancee Of Soldier

Mrs. Mildred Bruckner of Broadway, Hicks ville, has an­nounced the engagement of her niece, Miss Rita Dugan, to Priate First Class George J. Smith, nephew of Mr. and Mrs. William Frost, Jr., of Broadway, Hlcks-ville.

Private Smith returned from the European theater of operations where he served ten months. He wears three campaign stars for the battles of Ardennes, Central Germany, and the airborne cross­ing of the Rhine. He received the Purple Heart during hte Battle of the Bulge. After a 30-day leave he will report to Fort Dix, N. J.

Hicksville Club Plans Program

Plans for the coming year were discussed at a meeting of the Women's club of Hicksville, Mon­day night, at the home of Mrs. Peter Helmers, Stewart avenue, Garden City. Mrs. Joseph Bergold presided. A theater party will be held in November.

The next meeting will be held, October 8, at 8:30 p. m. at the Teachers' club, Miller road, Hicks­ville.

Miss Dippei, a Baldwin High school graduate, is a junior at Bucknell university, Lewisburg, Pa.* Lieutenant Heinz is a graduate of Wiiloughby High school and at­tended Bucknell university under the navy V-12 program. He was graduated from Quantico, Va., last month, and received his commis­sion after serving in the marine corps for two years. After 19 days' leave, Lieutenant Heinz will re­port for duty to the west coast.

Miss Dippei recently returned from a 10 day visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Heinz in Ohio.

Miss Vogel Bride Of War Veteran

Miss Ethel Vogel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Vogel of Cen­tral avenue, Lynbrook, became the bride of Jerry Maratea of Rem-son avenue, Merrick, Saturday. The ceremony was •performed at Christ Episcopal church, Lynbrook, by the Rev. Jdhn V. Cooper, rector.

The bride was attended by Miss Anne Maratea, sister of the bride­groom, as maid of honor; and* her brother, William Vogel, served as best man for Mr. .Maratea. She wore a fuchsia street-length frock with white accessories and a cor­sage of gardenias. A reception for about 50 guests followed at the Vogel residence after which the couple left for a honeymoon in Washington, D. C.

Mrs. Maratea, a graduate of Mal-verne High school, has been em­ployed in East Rpckaway. The bridegroom graduated frorn, schools in Brooklyn and was manager of a store in East Rockaway before he entered the army four years ago. , After serving three and a half years in the European theater of war as a corporal, he has re­ceived an honorable discharge. Mr. and Mrs. Maratea will make their temporary home with her parents.

The ceremony will be per­formed, Sunday, at 3:30 p. m., at St. Mary of the Isle Raman Catho­lic church, Long Beach, by the Rev. James McLaughlin. A recep­tion will follow at the Middleton home for about 40 guests.

Plan Tea Membership Affair To Be Held Sept. 24

The Junior league of the Hempstead Woman's club haa planned a membership tea to be held September 24 at 8 p. m. at the American Legion clubhouse, Hempstead avenue, West Hemp­stead. The board met Monday night at the home of the presi­dent, Mrs. Leo Carroll Tobin, Duryea place. Hempstead.

Mrs. James J. "Neefus, member­ship chairman, is in charge of the tea and hostesses will be Mrs. Lester Perry, Miss Tessie Markow and Miss Dorothy Billker. The program will be arranged by Mrs. E. A.
