Member Society ProfileThe Elgar Society was founded to honour the memory of Sir Edward Elgar and promote interest in his life and work. The East Anglian branch meets eight times a year for illustrated talks on Elgar in Bury St Edmunds. Dates of the next meetings are 6th April, 4th May, 1st June, 6th July. The Mayor’s Concert -‐ Sunday 23rd FebruaryThank you to all who made this concert such a huge success: We had a capacity audience and a wide ranging, highly entertaining programme, which raised £1,100 for distribution between Mayor, Councillor Mary Blake’s three nominated charities: Crisis UK, Lighthouse -‐ Women’s Aid Ipswich, and Town 102 Kids Trust. During the event, the Mayor awarded IAA Chair Professor Christopher Green OBE with an Ipswich Borough Council Community Award for his services to Music and the Arts in Ipswich. Read more in the concert review mentioned above.
Next IAA General Meeting -‐ Tuesday 18th June All are encouraged and welcome to come along to the IAA’s next general meeting. After the official business is concluded, Terry Hunt, editor-‐in-‐chief of Archant’s daily titles, will be speaking on The Role of the Regional Press as a Regional Resource.
