Prof Terry Y.P. Yuen has won the Grand R&D Award of the Structural Excellence Award 2017 with colleagues Profs J.S. Kuang (HKUST) and BSM Ali (BOU). The award was presented by Mr Frank Fan Chan, Secretary for Transport and Housing of the HKSAR Government, on 20 October 2017.

The Structural Excellence Award is jointly presented by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), UK. The Award recognizes excellence in structural engineering both in R&D and design projects. Prof Yuen and his colleagues received the Grand Award in the R&D category for the remarkable innovation and quality in their work on investigating the seismic performance of masonry-infilled RC frames, among many significant contributions they have made to research on the design and behavior of concrete structures for seismic resistance.

Prior to receiving the Grand R&D Structural Excellence Award, Prof Yuen has earned several other prestigious accolades including the Telford Premium 2014 from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK, and the HKIE Transactions Paper Prize from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

Dr. BSM Ali，共同榮獲 2017 年度卓越結構大獎 (Structural Excellence Award 2017)。該獎項是由香港特區政府運輸及房屋局局長陳帆先生於 2017 年 10 月 20 日頒發。

卓越結構獎由香港工程師學會 (HKIE) 和英國結構工程師學會 (IStructE) 聯合頒發。

該獎項旨在表彰在結構工程領域上的卓越研發和設計項目。袁老師及其合作伙伴在

研究砌體填充鋼筋混凝土框架的耐震性能方面獲得了顯著的創新和成果而獲頒在研

究開發類別的最高大獎，此外在研究混凝土的耐震設計和行為方面亦做出了許多重

要貢獻。

在獲得卓越研發卓越結構獎之前，袁老師已獲得多項國際性的學術獎項，包括英國

土木工程師學會（ICE）頒發的 Telford Premium 2014 及香港工程師學會頒發的 the HKIE Transactions Prize 2016。
