One of the most important figures in the history of skating is Sonja Henie, the Norwegian skater won 10 consecutive world championships and 3 gold medals at the Olympics. It was tremendously popular in the United States where he made many films.

The first artificial ice rink was created in Vancouver in 1912. And most of the exercises we now know are the names of the skaters that entered in competitions, including: Denise Bielmann (pirouette foot elevation to the head), the Americans Jackson Haynes, Norwegian Lutz and Axel Paulsen Swedish Slachow Ulrich.
