1. ICO Market Overview

As a rating platform, we pay more attention to best ranking ICOs. Our evaluation systemis based on a combination of the ICO profile rating based on our own algorithmthat uses more than 20 different criteria and the ratings provided by the independentexperts. On the other hand, it is highly important how much a project raised during itsICO and how the number and the value of the ratings could affect the number of fundsraised. In this section, we try to build a picture of this interrelationship.

1.4. Top countries on the ICO market

Countries & PlatformsThe ICO market has its leaders presented not only as projects but also as countries and the platforms the project teams build

their ICOs on. The map above shows the countries those became leaders in the following criteria: the number of ICOs, the num-

ber of ICOs per 1 million people, and the total sum of funds raised by the projects from the country.

As you can see, Ethereum has become a market standard. At the same time, today many projects base their products on Waves

platform and other runners-up.

The ICO market has changed in 2018 motivated for the bear market and new regulations. 2017 was the best year for public sales, but now all is turning to more private fundraising. The market is more professional now, something healthy por the industry. The ICO projects have to make more professional work to access to private seed funding. Every investor starts his research looking for red flags, the first filter to focus on really good projects. The work of each ICO should be offering the best possible experience for that more professional audience. The professionalization of the industry will be an amazing evolution for the success of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, atracting smart money and putting the right eyes over the market. There are some kind of projects that can impact the real world very quickly, improving existing industries with the benefits of blockchain. I love supplychains, for instance, a quick real use of it. Also I see a great potential on improving old systems and platforms with blockchain technology, making much more light, secure, quick and transparent industries like banking systems, hybrid exchanges, social and community platforms or burocratic and database infrastructures.New regulations are coming, it will protect better to investors and more capital will come to the market. It’s exciting to think about how the market will evolve and what new ways will find to improve our world.

It was nice to see that crypto market started to recover during the first week of September with some positive news. First of all, Bitcoin finally started a “bull run” from 6K to 7,3K after long summer months. If we would compare this situation with all other years in the past - we would see the similar picture every single year. Summer time usually is coming with dropped prices for crypto coins.Secondly, crypto news are coming with more positive ones. Like IOTA got FUJITSU partner and Yahoo Finance intergrated crypto coins for payments. For that reason, it is great to see that market went up again and hopefully it will continue to rise up. Why is that important?Answer is very simple - it will help ICOs to get more funds and investments. More people will invest in cryptocoins - more potential investors into ICOs projects. For that reason, I believe that during the next couple weeks, we will see a better picture with investing results for ICOs as well. There are some interesting projects which launched last week and will do during the next days as well.

The ICO market appears to be more mature, even looking back from the last few months. Projects are getting called out for not delivering on many promises, investors are skeptical, and fewer token sales are reaching their raises, aside from the very cream of the crop. Exchange projects in particular seem to be among the few doing well, as there is a need for innovation, decentralization, and liquidity in that space. There is also a shift happening from ICOs to STOs at least in the US market. Whether mature ICOs will continue to remain viable will depend on the regulatory decisions of other countries, which we might start to get more clarity on in 2018 to 2019 (eg. Canadian Government just recently pushed back itТs date for announcing their new regulations). But at least in the US, the STO is becoming highly favored. Key differences in these STOs are that they raise over much longer time periods (think 6 months to 1 year), often sell some form of equity tied to the token, and are issued through exemptions including Reg S (international raise), Reg Db (private placement without marketing, Reg Dc, and Reg CF (crowdfunding with $1,000,000 cap open to non-accredited investors). The STO space does still have some evolving of its own to do however. While it is growing, there have only been a handful of token sales in 2018 (under 10), and liquidity is still an issue. If you think of the problems with liquidity on regular crypto exchanges, the secondary markets for security tokens are even fewer due to the strict regulations they must comply with. Allegedly Airswap and Bittrex are working towards being able to list security tokens. My team and I are keeping our eye on new developments in the STO space, and once there is enough data, we hope to analyze and compare the profitability and economics of STOs vs. ICOs.
