Challenges and Opportunities

Page 17: IEEE Technical Activities

Top Issues (Cont.)

How do we create compelling value propositions for society membership?

How can TA create new means of delivering our products?

How do we create products (publications, conferences, educational offerings, ….) for practicing engineers with applications focus?

How do we continue to attract competent leaders?

Page 18: IEEE Technical Activities

•Participate in tools where young engineers are playing•Take IEEE/Societies to them, not require them coming to us•Look for opportunities to bind together the Mentors and Youth through social networking opportunities

Technical Activities Goals for 2008

1. Develop products of value to industrial technical practitioners and increase employer perception of the value of society membership

2. Make IEEE’s presence in emerging opportunities publicly visible, providing a single focal point for access to technical information in a given area.

3. Develop a technology roadmap for IEEE Technical Activities Effort to organize IEEE-TA products by Sectors that better

represent areas of broad interest and appeal to society.

4. Increase the perceived value of society membership to young professionals.

5. Identify and develop products and services that result in long term IEEE and S/C membership renewal.
