The Diabetes Prevention Program with the Y helps people at high risk for diabetes delay or prevent the disease through healthy eating, increased physical activity, and other lifestyle changes. The Diabetes Control Program with national pharmacy chains provides free education and support from trained pharmacists to help people with diabetes better control their condition and reduce the risk of developing diabetic complications such as nerve, kidney and eye disease.

VanessaPasiadis,MHA,andAuthorVanessa has created a positive life affirming book for tweens, the group between childhood and full blown adolescence, that promotes healthy lifestyles with interesting eating suggestions to aid them in their path towards young adulthood. She has an insightful and thoughtful approach to the ever growing problem of childhood obesity which she presents in a fun and funny way through fiction. The lessons are there, but are so integrated into her story that they are learned easily as tweens follow Cookie and her friends through their everyday lives. Vanessa Pasiadis has a degree in Biology from Chatham University and a Master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. As a former teacher, she has special insight into the needs of tweens and uses all these attributes to help young people lead a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition and fun.
