HERE’S HOW IT HAPPENED FOR US

Years ago, when I (Sharla) first started my coaching practice I only used just ONE of the strategies (Networking) and it helped me to triple my coaching and acupuncture practice.

When Jesse and I started Thrive Academy, we added one more of these strategies (Email your own list) to our Client Attraction Plan... And we went from zero to hundred—$175,000 in our first year. We added another one of these strategies (Joint Ventures) the following year and made $265,000! In our third year, we made $732,000 still using just these three strategies to get our phone to ring. The fourth year, we added another strategy (Getting Interviewed, aka Joint Ventures with Bigger Players), and while it took a little longer to implement, this helped us have our first 7-figure year!

Speak to GroupsOur favorite way to get your phone ringing (besides referrals) is speaking to groups.

Speaking to groups is one of the best ways to share your work with LOTS of people all at once and have many of them sign up to work with you.

It’s very common for more than half of your group to sign up for free consultations, and because they see you as the expert, many of them will become your clients. One of our clients, Jenn August, got asked to speak in front of a group of 10 women just before Christmas. She told me that when she walked in the room, she looked at the women and thought she wasn’t going to make a dime from this gig.

She said it took a bit for this group to warm up. But in a short period of time, she created a strong connection with this group. At the end of her talk, she offered a free consultation as a HUGE gift from her. 6 of the women signed up immediately for free consultations, and 4 became new clients. This gig turned into $20,000 in income for her.

Think about how you approach the speaker at an event you are attending. You automatically assigned them a higher amount of respect. We recommend that YOU be that person.

Carol Daly regularly make over $10,000 per month in her private practice. Getting speaking gigs is the main strategy she focuses on. She offers free consultations as a part of her talks and over 90% of those consultations turn into paying clients.

To get started, think about your niche. Where do your people hang out?

Get InterviewedGetting interviewed is actually easier than getting speaking gigs. What I love about interviews is you can do them over the phone so this even takes less of your time than it does to do speaking engagements. This doesn’t cost any money so this is another one of the strategies that doesn’t cost you money and it takes time. You still get positioned as the expert because you are being interviewed. You really become the expert in the eyes of your audience and they will be excited to get a free consultation with you.

Find other experts who have the same audience that you have and ask them if they ever interview other experts. With Blog Talk Radio (blogtalkradio.com), there are people looking for experts to interview everywhere!

It takes a lot to come up with content each week, so they could interview you as a guest author or even a guest speaker on a free teleseminar.

To get started, think about what topic your people would be really interested in learning about. Where can you add massive value and really showcase your expertise?

And the good news is that once you start getting a few interviews, the word starts to spread. After my (Sharla) first interview 8 years ago, getting requests for interviews once per week. I get so many now, that I have to say no to most of these invitations these days. And it all started with that first interview. Important tip: When you are being interviewed, make sure you send them to a webpage where people can opt in, get some free giveaways, or sign up for a free consultation with you.

GET YOUR PHONE RINGING STRATEGY #3

Local NetworkingThis is the very strategy that I use when I was building my coaching practice in my acupuncture practice in 2002.

Where can you go networking to find clients and referrals?

There is the obvious Chamber of Commerce, where most people there seem desperate to get clients (not our best recommendation).

The best way to find the best local networking is to Google Your Niche + Event.You’ll get a list of events and you’ll have to do some research to find the best places.Meetup.com is another great place to find networking opportunities. At some of these events, you get the opportunity to stand up and share what you do.

Here’s a little template for what to say, “Hi, I’m____________(your name). (Then position yourself as you share what you do.) If you’re looking to get crystal clear about what’s missing when it comes to getting from____________(the problem you solve) to __________ (the solution), I am offering a limited number of free consultations right now. Come talk to me to see if I can support you.”

Right now, this week, you can go to a networking event. You can stand up and you can get yourself some free consultations now!

GET YOUR PHONE RINGING STRATEGY #4

Search MarketingHave you ever met someone at an event and Googled them later? What happens if someone Googles YOU? It happens all the time. You need to make sure that people can find you when they search for you. You want to avoid losing business because someone can’t find you online. Whether or not you have a website, you need to be findable on the what we call The BIG 5.

The Big 5 places online that you must list your business are:

Another thing you want to consider are trade listings. One example is Psychology Today for Psychotherapists.

One of our members is a licensed psychotherapist who simply made some changes on his Psychology Today directory listing and now he gets tons of phone calls from his listing. He told us that other psychotherapists say they are listed but don’t get ANY phone calls from that website.

What’s the difference? He noticed that all other profiles said things like, “I really care about people and I’m here to support you.” He took our advice of making the listing about what his people want instead of being all about himself.

So making sure that you’re really speaking to your people in your trade directory listing can make a really big difference.

Tip: Use your First and Last Name as your business name.

When you start going for a much bigger vision, this is when you will want to consider a brand name for your business. But not when you’re working to see clients alone. We recommend you wait on branding your business as something other than your first and last name until you really understand who your people are and what they’re looking for. People will be searching for you by your name, so make sure you get yourself listed in these free places, so people can find you.

PPC and SEO are also important to consider when you want to be searchable online (and make it easy for people who aren’t even looking for you, specifically, to find you). I won’t go into depth in this report. In most cases, you need to hire an expert!

With SEO (Search Engine Optimization), it takes time for you to rise to the top of an organic search on one of the search engines, like Google or Yahoo, but when you do, the traffic you’ll get to your website is free!

PPC (Pay-per-click) is paid online advertising, specifically Google Adwords and Facebook Ads.

You have two options with this: Study like crazy and figure it out on your own, in which case you are likely to have to buy a home-study program on how to use paid advertising, or HIRE SOMEONE who has a proven track record.

With PPC, you pay for each person who clicks your ad and you get immediate traffic. It can be REALLY lucrative for you, if you’re willing to invest lots of money upfront.

For example, Shannon Law used to own the only detox spa in the South San Francisco Bay. Her PPC specialist used the keywords colonics and colon hydrotherapy specific to the geographic area she wanted clients from.

She got tons of clients to that campaign because there were lots of people using those words in the Google search bar, but not many other listings using those keywords.

While Shannon sold her Detox Spa several years ago (and even worked on our team for a while), she’s moved on to another business that is more exciting to her.

Facebook Ads are another form of PPC. We’re sure you’ve seen lots of Facebook Ads. This, again, can either take LOTS of time to learn yourself (and lots of money making mistakes). It’s best to hire an expert who has a great track record.

Search Marketing:

NOTE: For SEO, PPC and FB ads, these $ investment, time investment and $ results, you can expect only apply if you have a good consultant AND you have a good strategy to take from Google, to your website, to signing up for a consultation with you.

GET YOUR PHONE RINGING STRATEGY #5

Joint VenturesIt’s likely you’ve heard of Joint Ventures before. In our industry, Joint Ventures are when someone else promotes you to their clients or subscribers.

You may feel intimidated by the idea of having bigger players promote you. While this is an awesome goal for the future, this strategy can take years because it’s all about relationship! Most of the people who have promoted this report and video have been friends with us for years! But don’t get discouraged, because there are some other things you can do with local JV partners that can help get you results really quickly with little time or money investment. Here is a little tip that one of our members, Rose Cole shared with us that we think it’s one of the most brilliant things we have ever heard. This is a Joint Venture strategy, although not the big JV thing where you do a launch or a teleseminar and someone sends people your way. This is a much smaller but very effective way to do joint ventures when you’re offering free consultations.

Here is is: Find Joint Ventures who can send you consultations as bonuses to their information products or group programs.

There are people who are selling info products that solve the same problem as your services or serve the same people in a different way. While you might be tempted to think of these people as competition, I really want you to start thinking about Coopetition because your best Joint Venture partners are the people who already have your people on their email lists.

You find someone who sells info products to the right people for you, and you’re looking for people who no longer offer one-on-one work. What you can do is offer a free consultation as a valuable added bonus for the people who buy their product or home study program. And you can give them a referral fee. So for every person they send you who buys your package, you offer a 10% referral fee (unless that’s not allowed in your trade).

They do the marketing FOR you and it gets YOUR phone ringing for free consultations.

Email Your Own ListThis strategy is for you if you already have an email list. You can send an email out that offers a limited number of consultations to your own list.

In our Client Attraction Mastery Program, you get several email templates you can send out offering Free Consultations. These emails have brought in thousands of free consultations for our clients.

The email positions you as an expert and then offers free consultations. You can ask people to email you to set it up or set up an online calendaring system where they can book themselves.Ideally, you let them know you are offering a limited number of consultations to people on your list. And ideally, they fill out the application, so you are not giving free consultations to people who don’t need your services or would not sign up anyway.

Get InvolvedGetting involved is really about finding places where your ideal clients hang out.

Social Media may fit into this strategy because it is a place for you interact with people, you connect with them, you provide support, help, advice, and it comes back to you. But social media takes a lot of effort to get a good return, because unless you’ve met someone in person, it takes a VERY long time to build the type of trust that is needed to have someone be interested in your services. And natural sharing of your posts only happens when you have a VERY specific niche. Getting involved is more about finding the Hubs where your people hang out and spending time there. Which associations do your ideal clients belong to? Which live events, conferences, charity balls, forums, parties, etc... where does it makes sense for you to show up, add value and build relationships? This strategy takes some time, but it can be SO worth it.

STEP 2—OFFER A FREE CONSULTATION.

Now that people are approaching YOU about your work, we recommend you offer them a Free Consultation.

We think Free Consultations are a great idea for 2 reasons:You get to lead with generosity. In a 30 minute session you can give a tremendous amount of value, compassion, wisdom, advice and support. Your generosity will come back to you, in the form of clients, in the form of referrals, and so much more.

If you use the “Get Clients” Free Consultation Formula from video 2 (masterclientattraction.com/client-formula), then you should see a good percentage of the people sign up for your package. In a recent Client Attraction Mastery Program, 42% of the Free Consultations our clients did in the first month of the program turned into paying clients.

That’s nearly 1 out of every 2 free consultations turned into a paying client—42% was the average, however, many of our clients consistently have about 90% of their free consultations turn into paying clients.

If you knew that nearly 5 out of 10 free consults would turn into paying clients, would you offer them? Assuming you are offering Free Consultations, you need to get good at booking them. So let’s say your phone rings. It’s Jan. She wants to know more about you do and how much you charge. In the old paradigm of selling, you would tell them what you do with a fancy “elevator pitch” and then try to close them as quickly as possible. As a Heartseller, it’s a totally different game. Your intention is to serve your potential client. And you can’t do this unless you discover more about Jan.

So you can say: “I’m so glad you called. How did you hear about me?”

Jan might say: “My friend Mike heard you speak and told me I should talk with you.”

So you can say: “Well, that’s awesome! I would love to tell you more about my work and how much I charge, but before I do, I’d love to hear a little bit more about you. What did Mike say, that had you want to call me?”

This creates more opening (instead of closing.) This is about developing a long term relationship instead of trying to make a quick sale.

STEP 3—THE “GET CLIENTS” FREE CONSULTATION FORMULA.

This simple and proven formula will make it MUCH easier for people to say YES to you. The formula is a series of questions you can ask your potential client that will not only provide them tremendous insight and value, however, make it very likely that they will say YES to working with you.

I gave you this formula in my last video, so make sure to download the template, because I’m not sure how much longer we’ll be leaving it up.

What will you offer during the “Get Clients” Free Consultation Formula?

If you already have a package of sessions, group program, high-end VIP work or live events, you can offer ANY of these things during the “Get Clients” Consultation. But if you have only been offering ONE session at a time, we recommend you start offering a PACKAGE of sessions, starting today.

This brings us to…

STEP 4: OFFER A PACKAGE AND DANCE WITH CONCERNS.

We define a package as: A commitment to working with you for 4 or more private sessions or 3 or more months.

It’s important to offer a package instead of 1 session at a time for the following reasons:

It benefits your client: » Because she is Saying Yes to a package (instead of just 1 session) and increases her commitment» She will almost always get better results when she commits more deeply » You will have more time to support her through the transformation

It benefits you: » You receive a MUCH larger amount of money » If you are going to take your valuable time to do a free consultation, you might as well offer a package for an amount that is exciting to you

Many coaches and holistic practitioners stumble when it comes to how many sessions to put in their package and how much to charge. But, I think we can all agree that it’s not about how big your package is—it’s about how YOU feel about your package. Do you feel comfortable AND excited about how much you charge for your package?

Because if you feel uncomfortable, you feel like you’re going to jump out of your skin, your potential client won’t feel confident in saying yes to you.

Or, if you’re bored by your package rate that you’ve been charging for years, your potential client will pick up on your boredom and not respond either. So, can it be comfortable, yet exciting?

Here’s an example. Sandy Zeldes helps spiritual women lose weight. She charges $4500 for a 12-session package. That’s $375 per session. She didn’t start out at that price point. When she first came to us, she was charging $60/hour and had a hard time getting people to pay her that rate.

As Sandy became more and more confident, and more and more booked, she kept raising her rates—and the clients kept coming. That’s what allowed her to buy her dream car, take lots of time off to ride her horse, and enjoy a much more relaxed lifestyle.

“My schedule is full now with clients that I love, who pay me what my programs are worth, and I’m motivated and inspired to continue to grow with my business. I’m consistently earning at least five figures each month, with my best months averaging around $15,000.”

Your package and pricing will evolve as you evolve. As long as you keep asking yourself powerful questions that will help you grow.

Whenever you make ANY kind of offer, some potential clients will always have concerns.So it’s essential that you develop a skill we call Dancing with Concerns.

What is Dancing with Concerns? If this was a typical sales training, it would be called “overcoming objections.”

Overcoming objections is about convincing, which never feels good to anyone, and is part of the reason why so many coaches and holistic practitioners hate sales. Needless to say, we couldn’t call this Heartselling™ if you had to “overcome objections.”

Instead, Dancing with Concerns is the art of inspiring your potential client to say YES to their Highest Commitment (which might or might not be a YES to what you’re offering).

But, don’t you want to convince EVERYONE to say YES? NO! But what if 50% of the people who tell you they can’t afford it, say YES! instead?

Dancing with Concerns is one of the most IMPORTANT business skills you can possibly learn. Why? Sometimes it really is the money, however, other times, there is a concern in the way of their seeing that the value of working with you is greater than the investment. When you help them dissolve their concerns, it allows them to get in touch with their Higher Self—the part of them that is committed to growth and is not afraid. When they are in touch with their Highest Self, they are empowered to make a great decision.

How do you help them align with their Highest Self?

The first step is to ask them Magic Question 1: “If it wasn’t for the money, is this something you would like to move forward with?”

This question moves the money out of the way and invites them to look and see if there’s something underneath the money concern. Sometimes, when we ask this question, people say, YES, it’s really the money.

We’ve discovered that when people feel safe to share their heart, they’ll dive a bit deeper and say that they are scared that they’ll fail, or they don’t trust themselves to do the work, or they don’t feel they deserve the support they are craving, or they have this belief that they are weak if they need support and need to do it all alone. Sometimes, tears come up as people confront the deeper truth of what’s going on. So it’s essential you create a space of safety, because when you do, a whole new level of commitment to getting the result she said she wanted, can emerge.

And then, working with you becomes the logical next step.

So, use this question, and notice what this one little question opens up in your conversation.

This brings us to…

STEP 5—GET REFERRALS.

I shared tons about how to get referrals in my first video (masterclientattraction.com/get-referrals). And when you register for the webinar and stay through to the end, we’ll give you our famous, “How to Ask for Referrals” Conversation Template, so you’ll know exactly how to call potential referral partners and have them be HAPPY to send you referrals. Quick TIP: The template is all about Leading with Generosity. When you do, people will be more likely to help you!

This 5th Step in this blueprint makes it a continuous loop that circles back to Step 1. But, if you don’t have mastery in any of the 5 Steps, it creates a break in the loop, and you stop your client attraction momentum in it’s tracks.

When you master all 5 steps of this Client Attraction Mastery Blueprint, you should be able to move anywhere and within 90 days have a thriving business, full with as many clients as you want!

The bottom line is this, you simply must gain Mastery in ALL 5 steps of this Client Attraction Mastery Blueprint or it will be VERY difficult to make your business work.

We’ve met SO many coaches and holistic practitioners who are using the Hope and Pray method to attract clients. They aren’t doing much to try to get clients and the little that they are doing, isn’t working.

And others who are hoping someone else will come along and market their services FOR them. The problem is that it’s nearly impossible for someone else to understand YOUR heart and the depth of the work you do—it’s got to be up to you to attract clients.

Your people need you. They’re waiting for you to help them, and if you don’t learn how to get your phone ringing, have people say YES to a free consultation, be able to do the consult in a way that actually gets a YES to at least a package, dance with concerns and then get referrals, it will be much harder to keep your business afloat.

Now not everyone is meant to own a business, and this may not be for you, but I want to encourage you to look deeply into your heart and ask what will happen to YOUR people, the people who need YOUR specific gifts if they can’t find you.
