• IHI – Established (1957) as field laboratory of the Swiss
Tropical Institute (Swiss TPH) Based at Ifakara. – Up until today its collaboration with this institute
continues

• The significant growth of IHI is demonstrated – Increase in its project portfolio size from 6
projects in 1997 to over 50 projects to date.– The substantial amount and variety of peer-
reviewed publications – Train a large number of staffs– Qualified senior scientific staff, a number of whom
serve on national task forces and advisory panels
