CHRISTMAS JOY 2018

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

Each year we look forward to the celebration of Christmas with hope and joy. For the children it is filled especially with holiday excitement. But as the years pass and maturity sets in, the Christmas Season fills us with a hope beyond the good gifts, the party planning, the baking and shopping. We come to a deeper place of hope for all that God desires for us.

The celebration of Christmas is a reminder to us that God enters our world, our lives. Jesus was born for each of us and for the salvation of the entire world. He still comes to us to refresh us as a companion in our loneliness, to encourage us as a friend in our doubts, to strengthen us as our God in our weakness and sins, to comfort us in our sorrows, and to delight with us in our joys and successes.

May you experience joy again this Christmas Season as an opening to Divine Grace, to Jesus Himself, who always comes to us with His love and mercy.

Know of my prayers for you and your family and friends this Holy Season.

Christmas Masses We are looking forward to celebrating nine Christmas Masses this year. Some Mass times are more crowded than others with the most popular Mass time being 4 PM on Christmas Eve. If you prefer a Mass that is not as crowded, you may want to consider attending Mass at 6 PM on Christmas Eve or at 7 AM on Christmas Day. Please note that the upper and lower cemetery gates will be open to allow for extra parking for all Christmas Masses.

Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God Tuesday, January 1st 2019

Called in the Gospels "the Mother of Jesus," Mary is acclaimed by Elizabeth, at the prompting of the Spirit and even before the birth of her son, as "the mother of my Lord." In fact, the One whom she conceived as man by the Holy Spirit, who truly became her Son according to the flesh, was none other than the Father's eternal Son, the second person of the Holy Trinity. Hence the Church confesses that Mary is truly "Mother of God". Join us to celebrate Mass at 6:30 PM on Monday December 31st and at 8:30 AM on Tuesday January 1st. This is NOT a holy day of obligation. Please note that Evening Prayer WILL NOT be celebrated on Monday, December 31st.

WELLS OF LIFE GIFT Our parish contributed $6,000 for another well in Uganda. Water is such a basic human need that we take it for granted. WELLS OF LIFE provides this basic human need for entire villages. Instead of walking miles to get water from polluted creeks, now with a well, the children can attend school and be preserved, with their families, from diseases. 7-9 PM | Salón C Explora las raíces bíblicas de las palabras y los gestos que usamos en la Misa y explica su profundo significado. Entienda, tal vez por primera vez, porque decimos lo que decimos y hacemos lo que hacemos cada semana en la Misa. Las palabras y los gestos serán vistos en una nueva luz, que dará vida nueva a su experiencia litúrgica. Habrá un Guia de Estudiante y un libro para la clase que cuesta $20 en total. Hay asistencia financiera si requiere ayuda para pagar el material.

NAVIDAD DE ALEGRIA 2018

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo:

Cada año anticipamos la celebración de la Navidad con esperanza y felicidad. Especialmente para los niños, esta época está llena de emoción por todo lo que sucede en estos días. Pero a medida que maduramos con los años, la época de Navidad nos llena de una esperanza que va más allá de los regalos, las fiestas, las galletas y las compras. Llegamos a un lugar de esperanza por lo que Dios desea para nosotros.

La celebración de la Navidad nos recuerda que Dios quiere ser parte de nuestras vidas. Jesús nació por cada uno de nosotros y para la salvación del mundo entero. Él continúa su presencia entre nosotros para renovarnos como compañero en nuestra soledad, como amigo en nuestras dudas, para fortalecernos como Dios en nuestras debilidades y pecados, para consolarnos en nuestros pesares y para gozar con nosotros de nuestras alegrías y nuestros éxitos.

Deseo que reciban de nuevo la alegría durante esta época de Navidad, para estar abiertos a la Gracia Divina, al mismo Jesús, que llega hasta nosotros con Su amor y su misericordia.

Durante esta época de Navidad estaré rezando por ustedes, sus familiares y amigos.

God Is Calling You to a Deeper Relationship with Him

Pastoral Services Appeal (PSA) 2019 Again, this year our diocese is providing opportunities for us to share our resources through the PSA “WE ARE ONE” campaign. This annual campaign supports diocesan ministries in many ways. Please look for a letter from Father Jerome in the mail in the next few weeks with information on the PSA. This year our Parish’s share of the costs of these ministries is $134,000; monies received over that amount will be returned to the Parish for our needs. Please come to Mass on the weekend of January 5-6 prepared to make your pledge and initial payment. Please prayerfully consider the amount of your pledge to the PSA. Together we are united in the Catholic faith knowing that through your generosity many people will be served. Thank you for your participation in the life of the parish diocese.
