On June 5 a one lap race (11,4 mile l was held at the lake for the first ti111e, drawing 24 run­ners and jocrera.

Steve Marques U4l was the win­ner in 7:31 and new record hold­er. Theresa Downs (12) was sec­ond and th~ first of aeven females. There were enough awards for ev­eryone supplied by the GrePnbelt Running Club which. co•aponsored this race with the Greenhl!lt Rec­reation Department. The complete results of both of these races will be available soon at the Youth Centers end the Gunnersmate Re­freshment Stand.

In age-group racine you only compete against peop!P In your own age croup, ll you cbooae, but many jocgers are only trying to 1!0 the distance. Races at longer or shor­ter distances will be scheduled by the Greenbelt Running Club as re· quested. These races and others are held to promote running and jogging as il sport and a physical fitness exercise.

The 14--15 year-old age group led the scorers with Dennis Cantwell <Ul repenting his 100 yard win of last year. He had lowered the rec­ord to 10.3 In an earlier meet but tied the old record In 10.5. Cantwell was also in the most exciting race of the day when he made up 8 yards within 110 yards to win the 440 yard relay and also ran on the winning medley relay team. Tom Noel (15) captured the mile for the 3rd year, winning In 4 :53.5 but setting the record In an earlier meet of 4:38.9. Noel also won the 880 yard run In a record 2:06.1 and was on the winning medley, Frank Ric­ciuti was 3rd In the 100 and 4th In the 220. The 440 Yard relay team 8nl8bed ftnt In 49.8 seconds with. Tim Mlllhollon, :Mark White, RlccluU and Cantwell. The med· ley relay team were also champions with Ricciuti, Mlllohollon, CantwPII and .Noel In 1:46.8.
