Launched in the summer of 2006, the PGPX is a one year, full time Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives. PGPX students undergo the rigorous, broad based academic process IIMA is renowned for. The programme moulds experienced professionals into managers who fit naturally into middle and senior executive roles. The profile of this batch is comparable to those at the best business schools across the globe in terms of cross-cultural work experience, knowledge of concepts in management and depth of experience. The programme has been ranked by Financial Times at No. 11 among MBA programmes globally.

The graduates from the first six batches of this programme have been absorbed enthusiastically by the industry for various C-suite and other senior level executive positions, both domestically and internationally. Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2011. And, for the two consecutive years thereon, the PGPX programme has been proudly sporting a gold standard - A standard that has become a benchmark for career progression of business executives around the world. Yes, I refer to the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings for 2011 and 2012 which placed PGPX at Number One Worldwide in terms of Career Progress. Dear Recruiters, it gives me immense satisfaction to introduce to you the 85 executives that constitute the class of PGPX 2012-13. These participants have been selected through a rigorous, internationally conducted admissions process that includes leadership profiling, personal interviews, and a highly competitive average GMAT score of 717. The candidates have work experience of about 10 years, and, despite being away from school for a reasonable period of time, they have gone through a highly demanding academic programme and intellectual rigour of IIMA. The design of the programme is based on a vigorous debate that brought out the best from customer segments in private and public sector organizations and a fifteen member strong IIMA faculty.

We have been meeting PGPX students over last nearly six years . We find them scholastically very bright, often with unique experiences in global environment. In addition, they display great deal of maturity in their people skills, leadership style as well as high level of pragmatism in pursuing appropriate career choices. PGPX is a one year, full time residential Post-Graduate Programme in Management for Executives. The objective of the programme is to develop bright and enthusiastic experienced professionals into management leaders and change agents in the global arena.

The design of the programme, developed through vigorous debate among the industry leaders and the IIM-A faculty, gives the programme cutting edge superiority in creating the business leaders of tomorrow. ABMThe Post-Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management (PGP-ABM) is a sector-specific two-year full-time residential programme of IIM Ahmedabad. Rated as the No. 1 Programme Globally in the Agribusiness/Food Industry Management Category by Eduniversal, a French Rating Agency, the Programme offers recruiters an opportunity to source the finest talent in specific sectors related to food, agri-business, retail, microfinance, development, and global supply chains among others. With its emphasis on academic rigour and its focus on bringing contemporary industry practices to classrooms, PGP-ABM has been immensely successful in moulding dynamic and enterprising individuals into leaders capable of transforming the agri-business landscape.

The PGP-ABM programme attracts students from diverse backgrounds includ-ing agriculture, food and dairy, commerce, economics, law, and healthcare ev-ery year. The first year of studies is common with PGP, imparting the basics of marketing, finance, operations, economics, and human resources management. In the second year, students choose from electives which include Agricultural

Finance, Strategic Food Marketing, Public Policy, Energy Markets, Management of Micro Finance, Carbon Finance, and Logistics, Supply Chain, and Infrastructure Management in Agribusiness. Students are also oriented to the global scenario, through a student exchange tie-up with ESSEC, France.

Students undergo a two month summer internship at the end of their first year, offering companies a fresh outside perspective, as well as raw talent. Students generally pursue internships in the functional areas of strategy, marketing, supply chain management, business development, consulting, corporate and investment banking in the agri-business sector and rural banking. FPMThe Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is the doctoral programme of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. The objective of the programme is to provide students with necessary skills to identify and research complex issues in the field of management. FPM seeks candidates with outstanding academic backgrounds, intellectual curiosity and discipline needed to make scholarly contribution. FPM is a research programme. To the selected students, IIMA provides an excellent environment for carrying out advanced research, thus creating highly committed researchers trained in the most recent methodologies and engaged in producing original research work. IIMA’s doctoral programme provides a diverse set of opportunities for interdisciplinary education and research. The small entering class ensures close interaction with the faculty, where students can determine their own directions under the guidance of their thesis advisory committees.

The student becomes part of one of the ten functional/sectoral groups and acquires the basic theoretical knowledge and practical aspects of the area. This

allows close interaction with faculty members, who provide the intellectual stimulation and help develop the student’s own research interests and professional goals. The programme is strongly committed to preparing thought leaders both for the academic and corporate world. Students spend generally a little over four years that includes two years of rigorous course work. Course work in the first year provides a general management overview and develops basic skills for analyzing managerial problems. In the second year, students take advanced doctoral level courses in their areas of specialization. The doctoral dissertation, for the next couple of years, provides them with an opportunity to make original contribution to an area of management or to one of its source disciplines. IIMA’s faculty have studied and worked in the best of institutions within India and around the world. Their involvement with public and private organizations internationally allows them to bring relevant managerial issues into the classroom and in their research. This creates an exceptional environment for developing a research programme that can build sound theory for analyzing complex managerial problems.

PGPSelected through a highly rigorous admission procedure, participants of IIMA’s PGP go through a thoroughly challenging and enriching academic experience during their two years on campus. The programme constantly strives to remain at the forefront of modern management education, instilling in its students values of teamwork, a global focus, an ability to innovate and above all, an unflinching quest for excellence. Then curriculum exposes students to a number of real life situations and contemporary analytical tools that are delivered through the case method of pedagogy. The two month summer internship at the end of the first

On-Campus Recruitment

Placement ProcessAt IIMA, placements are handled by the Student Placement Committee under the supervision of the faculty through a process that optimizes the interests of both the students and the companies. The student committee gets involved in the process right from corporate interactions (throughout the year), to pre-placement talks, to coordinating activities during placement process.

There are two main placement activities on campus:

�Pre-placement Talks/Corporate Presentations: Pre-placement presentations (up to 2 rounds) enable organizations to inform students about company’s business, work culture, organizational structure, career, and growth opportunities. We recommend a 30-minute presentation and a 15-minute Q&A session. Presence of senior executives and alumni helps create a better impact.

�This year companies can plan to visit IIMA for delivering pre-placements talk starting 01-Oct-2012. For scheduling the talks, Student Placement Committee should be approached at least 7 days in advance.

�On-campus recruiting: Companies can plan a visit to the IIMA campus for conducting placement interviews and making job offers to suitable student candidates during the placement season.

�This year the placement season commences in the 3rd week of December and continues till 31-March-2013. Companies can approach Student Placement Committee about 2 weeks in advance for scheduling an on-campus placement session. The committe members can also be approached for guidance on the transport and lodging facilities on campus.

Key Recruitment Policies and Guidelines �student Placement committee is the single Point of contact: Companies interested in conducting recruitment activities at IIMA must contact a student placement committee member for placements. Companies are discouraged to directly approach the students.

�non-Grade disclosure Policy: PGPX class of 2013 as well as the placement process at IIMA PGPX program follows a grade non-disclosure policy.

�Offer negotiations: Compensation and other terms of employment should be negotiated directly between the company and the candidate.

�Offer communication: Offer to the selected candidates should be communicated through student placement committee.

�reporting standards compliance: Companies are required to provide the final offer details as per the reporting standards followed by IIMA. Details can be sought from a placement committee member.

Recruitment Fees �There is a fee for participating in the recruitment process, and a charge per successful hire (amounts will be informed by the placement committee member). Companies headquartered in India with a turnover of less than INR 100 crores and Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are exempt from the participation fee.
