SPECIFICATIONS

The National Electronic Manufacturers Association’s (NEMA) classifi cations for electrical products provide a convenient way to determine a product’s level of harsh environment protection. When properly installed, all iKey products meet specifi cations from between NEMA 12 and NEMA 4X. Below are the basics of NEMA specifi cations as they apply to industrial peripherals.

NEMA 12 – NEMA 12 products are designed for indoor use, and to provide protection against dripping and light splashing of liquids, as well as falling dirt, circulating dust, lint, and fi bers.

NEMA 4 – NEMA 4 certifi ed products are designed for either indoor or outdoor use, and provide protection against falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing water, and hose-directed water. NEMA 4 products will also remain undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure.

NEMA 4X – Products meeting NEMA 4X specifi cations are constructed for either indoor or outdoor use, and provide protection against falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, and external formations of ice on the enclosure. NEMA 4X certifi ed products are also protected from splashing water, hose-directed water, and are additionally safe from damage by corrosive liquids.

iKey offers Intrinsically Safe and Nonincendive modelsfor use in hazardous and classifi ed locations.

Intrinsically safe equipment is defi ned as equipment and wiring which is incapable of releasing suffi cient electrical or thermal energy under normal or abnormal conditions to cause ignition of a specifi c hazardous atmospheric mixture in its most easily ignited concentration. This is achieved by limiting the amount of power available to the electrical equipment in the hazardous area to a level below that which will ignite the gases.

iKey’s intrinsically safe products have a Factory Mutual approval for Class I, II, and III, Division I, Groups C, D, E, F, and G.

Nonincendive equipment is equipment having electrical/electronic circuitry that is in-capable, under normal operating conditions, of causing ignition of a specifi ed fl ammable gas-air, vapor-air, or dust-air mixture due to arcing or thermal means.

iKey’s nonincendive products have a Factory Mutual approval of Class I, Divi-sion II.

Design Options Include:Custom Cable Connectors- iKey custom products are available with options including LemoTM cables, bulkhead connectors, locking connectors and extended or shortened cable lengths.

Pointing Devices- Our computer pointing devices can be integrated into a number of custom keyboard designs, eliminating the need for an external mouse

Size & Shape- From larger than standard, to miniature footprint, iKey designs many custom products in varied shapes and sizes.

Custom Colors- Our cases and keypads are available in a number of colors.

Illumination- Our backlit keys are available with red LED backlighting. Green backlighting is also offered for specifi c models.

Mounting- We can design your custom product for mounting into panels, vehicles, rackdrawers, tabletops and more.
