Here are a few things to know about our church:

We believe in grace. We believe in the forgiving grace of God. We also believe in extending grace toward one another. That means that we can be authentic about who we are and the things about which we struggle. In a world that admires getting ahead, we believe Christ is the one who makes us whole. We are all equal in our need for him. There are many places in our church life where you can receive and extend grace - retreats, small groups, worship services, Sunday School classes, mission trips, ministry opportunities.

We love to study. We have several Bible Studies being taught both in the evenings and in the day time. Some are topical: others focus on a particular part of Scripture. You don’t need to be a member of our church to join any of our studies.

We love kids! We feel very strongly about providing for our children and youth everything they need to develop a strong faith and be equipped to face the world. Our children’s ministry uses a variety of ways to instill the Word of God into the heart of a child. It dramatically shapes a child's life and—it is just plain fun!

There is a place for you. It doesn’t matter where you have been or what you have done. You may feel far from God or closer than you have ever been. If you do not have a church home, we invite you to be a part of what God is doing in us and through us.

We thank you for visiting.

Sager Brown Depot is smack dab in the middle of Cajun Country in Baldwin, LA. It is one of two locations UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) has to collect, inspect, assemble and ship relief supplies around the world whenever a need arises. We have reserved 20 spots for our April Mission Trip but we need to let them know by January how many will actually be attending. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided on the work days. Each

work team is assigned a couple of meals to clean-up after. Accommodations include dormitory style

rooms of two, four or eight. There is also RV hookup or private apartments (additional fee.) The

grounds of the Depot are beautiful with trees and swings along Bayou Teche for you to enjoy the

scenery. One afternoon during the week our team will take an afternoon off to visit local attractions

and eat out for dinner. Your time at the Depot is very rewarding. You work with people from other

teams and other parts of the country and you know what you are doing will affect and make a

difference in the lives of someone across the country and possibly around the world. You may

choose to volunteer in the community- you will have the opportunity to sign up for various volunteer

opportunities. Room, board and food services are covered, but there will be a couple of meals on our own. The total cost for the trip not including the meals during travel and the dinner out one night while sightseeing is $230. We will be having a breakfast fundraiser and a lunch fundraiser to cover some of the cost. We ask that missionaries pay a minimum of $110 and we hope to fundraise to cover the remaining balance.

I love going to Sager Brown! I like that I can be Jesus’ Hand and Feet even though I don’t

have any special skills- I don’t sew and I can’t build things. But I made a difference….and it

was FUN! Please consider joining us April 22-27, 2018! See me to sign up!

Dawn Crews

If you cannot attend but would like to make a donation to help

offset the cost of this mission trip, please mark you check/

donation: Sager Brown April 2018- Thanks!

“GET ON THE BUS WITH OUR 1960’S CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS” – Bus Stop at WUMC on Saturday, January 13, 2018

Once again in 2018, we’re celebrating the “living history” of our Mississippi Freedom Riders by providing an opportunity to join the Freedom Riders on the 2nd historic replication of the 1961 “Freedom Bus Ride” on the morning of Saturday, January 13, 2018. There will be stops in Selma, Schertz, Live Oak, Converse, Windcrest, and Sam Houston High School proceeding to Kirby, TX for the MLK Parade for Peace, and Post Parade “One Nation Under God” Gospel Concert at Kirby’s Friendship Park. There will also be local speakers, food and information booths, youth activities, petting zoo and more! Pickup time at WUMC will be approximately 8:30 am.

During the week of January 9 through January 15, the Dr. Bowie Scholarship Foundation is sponsoring a week packed with many events open to the general public, including Youth Summits at Judson Performing Arts Center and Alamo Stadium Convocation Center. Come and hear the inspirational stories and testimonies of these brave men and women, our honorees that have promoted change over fifty years via peace and non-violence.

For more information, please contact Dr. Barbara Bowie, 210-422-0693.

Dear friends;

Kay and the girls and I would like to say thank you. As a staff and a congregation you have become more than just a place to pastor, to minister and to worship. Each of you have become family. You have welcomed us into your homes and blessed us with gifts “of the soul,” that we do not feel we deserve. But we know that it comes from the eternity of your heavenly hearts. So as pastor and friend on behalf of myself and my family I would like to say thank you.

The following are three verses seem to say better what I cannot say in words by the author M.S.Lowndes:

We give thanks to the Lord for you, For you have truly blessed us,

You reached out so willingly At a time that was tough

It was such a wonderful blessing And meant so very much,

For the gift that you gave to us, Was from a heart of love.

© By M.S.Lowndes

I just want to say thank you For lifting me up in prayer,

Interceding on behalf of me And for letting me know you care

For our spirits are knitted together Through our faith in Jesus Christ

And we are truly the family of God When, through prayer, we can unite

So I give thanks unto the Lord For my fellowship with you,

For all your prayers have carried me As God was bringing me through.

© By M.S.Lowndes

I'm ever so grateful that you Think only to give of yourself,

For as you do, you become a blessing And such a tremendous help

So I pray God's awesome blessings Be upon your life today,

And that you'll know God's love for you In a more intimate way.

Heartfelt Thanks!

The past few months have been filled with many “asks”! Our church family has been asked to give of their time, money, and other gifts a lot. We’ve “asked” for volunteers from working shifts at the Pumpkin Patch to baking cookies for puppet shows; we “asked” for donations of items for Neighbors Helping Neighbors, for our preschool’s annual “Christmas Shop” and many other things. And, we “asked” for your financial gifts toward our general budget, apportionments, staff love offering and many other items. We just want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support – financially and otherwise. Windcrest is not just a church – it’s family!
