IMAGINE art encounter was a youth arts event bringing young people together the explore and express their ideas about a better future for themselves, their communities and their world.

IMagine Background

In our “Imagine- Exploring the Theme” pamphlet you can see how the young people started to engaged with the questions and issues around this theme.

Following on from exploratory introduction workshops the young people divided in groups to use a wide range of art forms to explore the theme further and express their ideas and visions. The young people worked with dance, theatre, visual arts, music animation and creative writing.

This pamphlet is a case study showing the process with the Viral Video which was facilitated by Angela Liñares and Siobhan Clancy

Animation

They idea was to create an animation a cloud-words for each of the values. The material used was plasticine, letter stencils, camera and tripod. They used the stop motion technique, creating plasticine clouds and taking a photograph of the cloud every time they removed a new letter from it to form the word.This clouds would be animated and included in the video.

The values represented on the video were chosen from the top 10 values that the young people pointed out as important for them in previous workshops.

Audio The group wrote and produced a song about the 8 values chosen to be the soundtrack of the video.

VideoSub-groups were formed to perform an activity in front of the camera to create video.

The process

The outcomes

The main outcome was a viral video of two minutes that was shared through social media platforms and the Globalfest website, it was showcased to the public during the Globalfest Main Event and sent to decision makers in a DVD.

All of the young people were involved in the process. They worked in groups (animation, video and music) but at the end they were able to see how the three parts came together and how every piece of work was important and added to the viral video. You can watch the video at: www.globalfestcork.com
