Mount St Helens

• Mount St Helens is a dormant volcano and was made up from the plates of the earth’s crust.
• They slowly rubbed together and, as a result, it formed a mountain.
• The mountain had a
crater where magma had settled for over several years.
Mount St Helens is on the east coast of America , and is located 56 miles north of Portland , and 65 miles south of Seattle.

Mount St Helens erupted because of the pressure beneath the earth’s crust. It built up lots of pressure and when it built up too much , it exploded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last eruption was on the 18 of May 1980.

Before Mount St Helens erupted , scientists had predicted that it was going to be a large explosion , but not one of the largest eruptions in history…
When Mount St Helens burst its incredible top , it caused a massive avalanche , including damage to houses , communities , properties and animals.
However the most devastating damage it caused was to beloved belongings , and the 58 people who were killed!
What damage did Mt St Helens cause?
No enormous explosions will happen with Mount St Helens , since the volcano has lost more than 1000 feet!So it is still a dormant volcano.
Did you know that the Indians called it , ‘’the smoking mountain?’’
Mount St Helens is like part of the Moon! It is called a Moonscape.
