ave you ever had anything tough or bad happen to you? Maybe you’ve had to move to a new school, or you’ve had an argument with a friend, or you talked back to a parent and they didn’t allow you to go to a special party. There were two ladies in the Bible who were very upset because of something that happened in their lives. Mary and Mary Magdalene had cried lots and lots of tears over the death of someone very special to them, Jesus. The two ladies had watched people be very cruel to Jesus. They witnessed others making fun of Him, spitting on Him, beating Him, and pressing a crown of thorns into His head. Mary and Mary Magdalene felt much pain from the death of their Savior. During their time of sorrow, the ladies must have had many thoughts of what they had learned from Jesus’ life and teachings. Jesus had showed them how to pray. During the days following Jesus’ death the two Mary’s probably spent many hours praying. On the third day after Jesus’ death, the ladies had prepared spices to anoint Jesus’ body. Imagine how shocked they were when they arrived at the tomb and it was empty. They were terrified! But in their fear, God had a plan. Jesus had risen from the dead!! He was alive! The two Mary’s had to endure some painful things, but God let them be a part of an incredible miracle. When something bad happens to you, pray and ask God for a miracle! Hey Leader,

Use this space to communicate personally with your kids and parents.

Down

1) In what Garden was Jesus praying when the disciples kept falling asleep? (Matt. 26:36)

2) Who was the High Priest? (Matt. 26:57) 4) What color was the robe place on Jesus at his crucifixion? (Matt. 27:28) 6) How many men were crucified with Jesus? (Matt. 27:38) Across

3) Who denied knowing Jesus 3 times before the rooster crowed? (Matt. 26:75)

5) How many pieces of silver did Judas receive to betray Jesus? (Matt. 26:15)

7) What prisoner did Pilate release instead of Jesus? (Matt. 27:26) 8) How many days was Jesus in the tomb? (Matt. 27:63)

God wants you to GROW UP! He wants you to be more like Jesus and demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in your life everyday. Even the plants and flowers around the world know they must grow up. In the experiment below you’ll see that no matter which way you turn a bean it will always grow upward. God wants you to be like this bean and grow up no matter what is going on in your life. What you’ll need: glass or plastic jar, potting soil, lima bean seeds, water, black paper, tape, plastic wrap, and a rubber band What to do: Fill your jar with potting soil, and push a seed right next to the side of the jar where it can easily be seen. Place more seeds around the jar where they can also be seen. Moisten the soil with water, and check daily to see if the seeds have begun to sprout. Once the seeds have sprouted, cover the outside of the jar with black paper. Make a lid for the jar with plastic wrap and a rubber band. For the next 12 days, check the moisture level of the soil each day or two and add a little water whenever needed to keep the soil moist. To begin the position changing experiment, lay the jar on its side for 3 days. After 3 days, turn the jar upside down and keep it that way for the next 3 days. Then lay the jar on its side again for 3 days. Finally, set the jar right side up for the last 3 days. After the 12 days of position changing, remove the black paper. You will discover that the beans kept changing their growth pattern in order to keep growing upward even though there was no light to show them which way was up.

Easter is the perfect time for families. You decorate eggs together, go to church together, cook together, and simply have a great time celebrating Christ’s resurrection. Easter can also be a great time to help your kids really connect with who Jesus is and how they can be more like Him. Take your family through a spiritual journey before, during, and after Easter with a little help from an Easter basket. Use the items and activities below to talk through the discussion points. Start the Thursday before Easter and end on the Tuesday after. Be blessed!

Hey Kids,

Easter was an exciting time for my family, We would all get dressed up to go to church on Sunday morning, but first we had to be up extra early to find our hidden Easter baskets. I remember one Easter we had to go to church before my brother could find his basket. I am sure for him that was the worst Easter possible. Our baskets would have chocolate bunnies and marshmallow peeps. They would have jelly beans and stuffed toys; all those things to re-mind us of spring. But wait a minute! I thought Easter was about Jesus being raised from the dead? All these “spring items” (bunnies, chicks, eggs, fake grass, ect.) represent new life after a long winter. These things can also remind us of Jesus’ resurrection and the “new life” we have in Him. Jesus is Alive!...as the baby animals learn to walk. Jesus is Alive!...as the grass pokes through the last layer of snow. Jesus is Alive!...as the birds come back from their winter home. Jesus is Alive! ..as you search for your Easter Basket. Jesus is Alive!...as we remember what He did for us at the cross. He is Alive and Well… He is Alive ! Happy Easter ! Michelle
