Advancing ADL through Global Collaboration

An international forum on the future of ADL technologies

Hosted by the Australian Department of Education Science and Training (DEST) and the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative (ADL)

The primary purpose of the three-day international forum is to consider strategic directions for the internationalization of SCORM (to include SCORM stewardship), CORDRA and relationships with the S1000D performance support community.

The forum will also address opportunities for integrating emerging ADL technologies such as gaming, simulation and intelligent tutoring into learning, training and performance support environments.

The mission of the JPTC is to advance research and development in, and the implementation of, job performance technologies across the Department of Defense.

The current goal known as the JPTC Bridging Initiative is to establish a technical bridge between online learning content and technical data.

Twice a year the JPTC brings these 2 standard worlds together. The JPTC hosts in conjunction with Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe, Performancefest Clearwater in the Spring and International Performancefest in the Fall.

MOA between the ADL (ATSC/LSAL prototype and JPTC S1000D) and JKDDC

Background:Each project requires a content repository instanceEach project requires registry of content within the repository in the ADL Registry (ADL-R) to make content “visible” in the ADL-R, and/or to further test the ADL-R’s capabilitiesEach project advances the goals of the OSD-P&R, Training Transformation, and the JKDDC to enable effective search, discovery, identification, resolution and retrieval of digital content in support of learning, readiness, and performance within DoD.

Joint ADL Repository Platform (JARP)

Page 44: Implementation Fest 2005 Mr. Paul JesukiewiczADL Co-Lab Mrs. Judy BrownAcademic ADL Co-Lab Dr. Xiangen HuWorkforce ADL Co-Lab Maj Dave KitchenCanada ADL

Creates and supports a system capable of providing repository services for JKDDC operational use and ADL testbeds for the Identifiers and Registries for Advance Distributed Learning prototype and S1000D Cross-cutting study. This is referred to as the Joint ADL Repository Platform (JARP).

JKDDC’s goal is to quickly establish an operational repository for content the JKDDC is developing, and begin registering that content in the ADL Registry by the end of August 2005.

ADL’s goal is to establish a testbed for running multiple tests using content repositories and registration in the ADL-R, to include the Identifiers and Registries for the ADL Learning prototype and the Job Performance Technology Center (JPTC) S1000D cross-cutting study.
