    1. Introduction This manual is intended to help you prepare your article master data for MIGROS. This document illustrates this standard, ensures the quality of the data and is intended as a guideline for you as a data provider. To ensure qualitatively correct data transmission, please take note of the Migros standard explained below.

Kindly note that you as a data provider are responsible for the complete transmission of all product information. You must comply with the required data quality and legal provisions for the relevant target market in which the products are traded.

1.1 Target groups of the document The following explanations specifically refer to the electronic data interchange via the 1 WS publishing user interface of atrify GmbH. Separate documents dealing with machine-to-machine data transfer can be downloaded from atrify (Interface Description, M2M Communication Guide, Profiles Overview).

Industry-specifically, this document has been designed for

    • Suppliers in the food industry and • Suppliers in the cosmetics industry.

The first part deals with food products – in particular with regard to the information on mandatory attributes.

The second part is especially relevant for cosmetics products. For ease of handling, the FMCG mandatory attributes in the first part are repeated in an overview and supplemented with cosmetics-specific attributes that are mandatory for Migros.

1.2 Contents of the document This document contains a list

    • of all Migros-relevant mandatory attributes in the field of food and cosmetics as well as

    • mandatory attributes for the target market of Switzerland as well as • industry-relevant mandatory attributes (food products or cosmetics)

By managing the listed attributes, all article information that conforms to Migros and GDSN is covered. In addition, the attributes correspond to the regulatory/legal requirements of the target market Switzerland.

  • ©atrify GmbH 2020 7

The attributes are sorted in groups and by topics and therefore in part modelled on the interface of the publishing tool. You will find more attributes in the interface. You can obviously also manage them. However, they surpass the standard expected by Migros.

Further information on data management can be found in the atrify "compendium". This is where all attributes shown in the interface are listed and described in detail. You will also find examples and further information on each attribute.

You can also view an overview of all attributes of the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) in our Excel document "Profiles Overview". This is where details such as data format, XML path, mapping rules, etc. are listed for each attribute. The so-called M number is the reference between the documents. It contains cross-references to the individual documents.

The " WS|Publishing Handbook“ lists all information and useful tips on data collection and management on an internet UI and the publication of your product information for trading.

You will find the latest version of all documents in the download area of atrify.

1.3 Using the document This document gives a detailed description of the attributes to be used and transmitted to Migros. The individual attributes can be entered at the article level in the template of the so-called attribute finder. The system will then take you to the appropriate field so that you can enter the information without performing any additional search (more information in the Publishing Handbook).

The attribute finder then takes you to the relevant field, so that you can enter the attribute without performing any additional search (more information in the WS Publishing Handbook)

    https://www.atrify.com/en/kundenbereich/download-center/

  • ©atrify GmbH 2020 8

Food suppliers should open the template in the tool and enter the mandatory attributes with the help of the explanations in this document. The mandatory field finder and the attribute finder will help you with your task.

Suppliers in the cosmetics branch can use the overview of the mandatory attributes from the second part of the document (4. Attributes – Cosmetics). To keep the document manageable, these attributes are listed with the attribute name and the M number and linked to the definitions within the document. The cosmetics-relevant attributes are listed separately thereafter.

  • ©atrify GmbH 2020 9

1.4 Explanation of the information per attribute

Attribute name: Name of the attribute in FMCG

M number: Acts as a reference to allow working with other documentations

Status: All attributes listed in the document are mandatory for the data exchange with Migros. Attributes that are mandatory only for specific groups of products (e.g. fishing zone) bear the mention "mandatory for specific groups of products".

    Definition: Explanation of each attribute

Multilingual: If yes, the attribute may be managed in several languages.

FMCG: Fast Moving Consumer Goods = attribute set of the DACH region

    2. GDSN

2.2 What is GDSN? The GS1 Global Data Synchronisation Network® (GDSN®) is a business sector that deals with the development of an internet-technology-based network between various data pools and the GS1 Global Registry. The trading and industry companies participating in the network are enabled to exchange and synchronise their master data worldwide within the supply chain according to the GS1 standard.

2.3. Why should article master data be exchanged via GDSN? The first step focuses on reducing "Excel excess". In addition, doing so results in cost savings at sender and receiver end because a standardised form of electronic data provision significantly reduces individual product pass creation in the long term. Due to this dynamic product data exchange, which is continually modified by legal rules and regulations, continuous cooperation is planned in this field to keep the profile up to date and to develop it.

    3. Attributes – Food 3.1 Basics 3.1.1 Product identification and classification

Trade item identification: GTIN [M017] Definition: The Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) is the GS1 key used to uniquely identify a trade item (also for re- or transport packagings). A trade item is any item (product or service) upon which there is a need to retrieve pre-defined information, and that may be planned, priced, ordered, delivered and/or invoiced at any point in any supply chain.

Target market country code [M011] Definition: Target market (country) assigned to the trade item (and all of its packaging items). The target market is where the trade item is intended to be sold. Different target markets have different demands regarding the item master data profile, which is governed by national laws or the relevant GS1 organisations. For Migros, Switzerland is the target market.

Information provider GLN [M365] Definition: GLN of the information provider, under which the base unit and all of its packaging items are stored in the atrify pool. Data controllers are identified by the GLN.

Information provider name [M366] Definition: Name of the information provider.

Trade item unit descriptor [M242] Definition: Describes the hierarchical level of the trade item (e.g., pallet, case, base unit or each, etc.). Trade item hierarchy = base unit + packaging item

Is trade item a base unit [M243] Definition: Indicator identifying the item as the base unit level of the trade item hierarchy.

Is trade item a consumer unit [M247] Definition: Identifies whether the product is designed to be a consumer unit or not. Consumer units are food in pre-packaging, which are intended to be taken possession of, or to be consumed or used by an end user or both.

Is trade item an orderable unit [M244] Definition: An indicator identifying that the information provider considers this trade item to be at a hierarchy level where they will accept orders from customers. If the base unit or packaging item cannot be ordered individually, but only as one of many in a re-packaging or transport packaging item, "No" is to be given. The relevant re- or transport packaging should then be marked as an ordering unit instead.

  • ©atrify GmbH 2020 11

Is trade item a despatch unit [M248] Definition: An indicator identifying that the information provider considers the trade item as an individual despatch (shipping) unit. If it is, however, as a rule delivered only as one of many within a further repackaging, e.g. packed in a carton, this packaging is to be marked as a despatch unit instead.

Is trade item an invoice unit [M245] Definition: Indication, whether the base unit or packaging item is an invoice unit of the data supplier, or is not. If the base item or packaging item cannot be invoiced individually but only as one of many in a repackaging or transport packaging item, "No" is to be given, while the relevant repackaging item is then to be marked as invoice unit instead.

Effective date time [M002] Definition: The date on which the information contents of the master data version are valid. This effective date can be used for initial trade item offering, or to mark a change in the information related to an existing trade item. In the last case, it would mark when these changes take effect.

Start availability date time [M005] Definition: The date (and time) from which the trade item becomes available from the supplier, including seasonal or temporary trade items.

Regulated product name / Language [M261] (=legal name) Multilingual: Yes, up to 500 characters

GPC Brick [M317] Definition: GPC Brick code of the GS1 Global Product Classification (GPC), that specifies the product category of the trade item. - The guessing tool provided in the WS|publishing tool helps you to allocate the correct GPC Brick code. You receive suggestions to classify products based on the short descriptions, descriptions, brand names and functions you provide. As an alternative, you can select the GPC Brick code from a list. Information on Brick attribute types is optional and goes beyond Migros requirements.

VAT [M330] Definition: Country-specific legally binding VAT for the trade item, e.g. zero, low or standard.

Manufacturer GLN [M368] Definition: GLN of the trade item's manufacturer, which can be different from the information provider.

Definition: Describes use of the product by the consumer. It should help clarify the product classification associated with the GTIN. For example, "salad dressing", "drill", "soup", "beer", etc.

3.1.2 Quantities Net content / UOM [M281] / Net quantity

Definition: The amount of a trade item contained in the package, as claimed on the label (according to the country specific regulation on packagings labelling), in case of a multi-pack the net content of the total trade item. For fixed value trade items use the value on the package to avoid variable fill rate issue that arises with some trade items sold by volume or weight whose actual content may vary slightly from batch to batch. In case of variable quantity trade items indicate the average quantity. The net quantity can be given in number of units, in grams or litres. If you indicate the "net quantity" in number of units, you also need to fill in the section "net weight". Net content is also known as net quantity.

Net weight / UOM [M278] Status: Only required if the number of units was mentioned under net quantity, in which case weight must be stated.

Definition: Value of net weight of the trade item.

Gross weight / UOM [M279] Definition: Gross weight of the base unit or packaging item including the entire packaging material, also those of the packaging items contained. (At pallet level the gross weight includes the weight of the pallet itself.)

  • ©atrify GmbH 2020 13

Is base price declaration relevant [M321] Definition: An indicator whether, or not, this item is mandated to have price comparison information included according to country specific pricing directives, e.g. price per 100 ml or price per 100g.

Specifically for Migros: Required unless it is an exception according to the regulation on the notification of prices. If drained net weight is stated, the basic price refers to the drained net weight.

Drained weight / UOM [M280] Status: Required if drained net weight must be stated because it also appears on the packaging

Definition: The weight of the trade item when drained off its liquid.

Number of servings per package [M076] Definition: The total number of servings contained in the package.

Number of servings per package: Measurement precision code [M476] Definition: Code that specifies the number of servings per package, e.g. Approximate value ( ~) . One should follow local regulatory guidelines when selecting a precision.
