Upon arrival in the country, the fertile eggs shall be hatched at the designated quarantine site of the importer. 5. The quarantine period shall extend for 30 more days after hatching, within which the birds shall be inspected by a representative from NVQS. 6. No animal shall be withdrawn from the quarantine site during its quarantine period. The issuance of the SPS Import Clearance for game fowl importation is subject to the condition that birds shall be solely used for breeding purpose. The permit is valid for three (3) months and good for one shipment only.

3. Secure an SPS Import Clearance from NVQS. Permit is good for two months; it may be extended for another month if the animals have not arrived yet.

4. For NEDA-registered breeders, refer to LDD for possible tax exemption.

6. Within thirty days from the date of arrival, the farm will be inspected by an NVQS representative or a deputized Veterinary Quarantine Officer. Blood collection shall be done on the imported birds for serological testing against Avian Influenza, Salmonella Pullorum , Newcastle Dis-ease and other diseases which may be necessary.

Qualified Importers:

Only a bona fide game fowl breeder accredited by BAI is qualified to import.

A bona fide game fowl breeder refers to any person, firm, company, association or corporation that has been breeding game fowls for at least 6 months and duly registered as such with the NVQS.

Qualifications:

1. With at least 50 breeder hens and 10 breeder roosters or cocks raised principally for breeding purposes;

2. A farm at least 1,000 square meters that has been operating for at least 6 months at the time of inspection with the ff. facilities: incubator, breeding facilities, and growing pens;

3. With technical know-how in handling farm operation;

4. Farm records of pedigree in breeding game fowls are kept and maintained.

a. Person participating in an international derby competition which will be held in the Philippines;

b. Non-commercial game fowl breeder who wishes to bring into the Philippines a maximum of one trio (2 hens and 1 cock) of game fowl and thirty hatching eggs.

For commercial breeding purposes:

Limitation: The SPS Import Clearance shall be issued to a bona fide game fowl breeder only.

2. Arrange a schedule with NVQS for inspection of the quarantine site/farm.

3. Secure an SPS Import Clearance from NVQS. Permit is good for two months; it may be extended for another month if the animals have not arrived yet.
