We Respect, We Challenge, We Achieve, We Believe

    From the Principal

    Dear Parents/Carers,

It is hard to believe there is only one week of this term to go until holidays. It seems to have gone so fast. This term teachers and students have been busy establishing their routines, building relationships and focusing on their learning. We have had a wonderful start to the year!

PORTLAND SOUTH PS EASTER RAFFLE DONATIONS Our ‘Easter Raffle’ is shaping up to be one of our best ever! Thank you very much to those families that have already donated prizes. I am also very humbled by the generosity of many local businesses that have donated prizes. We have a huge selection of gifts to raffle. If you would still like to donate, it is not too late. Don’t forget to sell your tickets and drop them back into the of-fice. We will be drawing the raffle at our end of term assembly on Friday April, 5th at 9am.

REGIONAL ATHLETICS - Combined Warrnambool Portland & Hamilton Athletics Carnival on Friday 3rd May Congratulations to all children who represented Portland South last week in the District Athletics Carnival. Thank you to Mrs. Menzel, Mr Stannard, Anitra and all of our wonderful volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you. Congratulations also to Taylah Convy, Andrae McTackett and Erin McPhee who have qualified for the next stage. The Regional Athletics will be held next term on May 3rd.

AUTISM ACCEPTANCE DAY- April 2nd Our SRC (Student Representative Council) are running their first community fundraiser for the year on Tuesday, April 2nd, for Autism Acceptance Day. Children are asked to wear a ‘hoodie’ on this day. We are asking participants to bring a gold coin donation.

KINDNESS WEEK NEXT WEEK AT PORTLAND SOUTH Next week we will be celebrating the importance of being kind to each other with ‘Kindness Week’ at Portland South. Throughout the week students will be involved in a selection of kindness activities with the aim of uniting people within our school and community through kindness. This week long celebration demonstrates that kindness is contagious. It all starts with one act – one smile, one kind word, one favour for a friend. It’s an opportunity for all our students, staff and community to leave the world better than they found it, and inspire others to do the same.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS- NEXT WEDNESDAY, 3rd of April Please ensure that all Parent Teacher Interview notes are returned to school as soon as possible. Parent Teacher Interviews will be held next Wednesday, 3rd April. Please note that if this date does not suit, please see your child’s teacher to organize other arrangements.

LAST DAY OF TERM—FRIDAY 5th APRIL Friday week, April 5th will be the last day of term. School will finish at 2.30pm. Don’t forget a special assembly will be held at 9am on that morning, so we can draw the Easter Raffles!

    Have a wonderful week,

    Vicki

with the support of Presents the nude food and sustainable living fundraiser

We have been lucky enough to team up with a local small business called ‘Sustainably Yours’ for this exciting fundraiser.

We want to help families source some sustainable alternatives to our everyday, and at times, wasteful ways that we package our

lunchbox goodies and disposable essential home items.

What is Nude Food? Nude food is food without excess packaging. This reduces the amount of ‘stuff’ that needs to go in

bins to be sent to landfill. 'Sustainably Yours' has a variety of beeswax wraps and pouches that are reusable and

environmentally friendly, providing long-term cost savings and environmental benefits.

prizes already. We have had some

    wonderful donations from businesses and

families. It’s going to be an awesome raffle!

Children are encouraged to make choices and decisions, approach new experiences with confidence while collaborating with peers and educators.
